Well Ratt.. singular. I'm coming up for the game on the 29th. Ok serious question... is it safe to walk from the City Island to the Crowne Plaza after the game? And how far is it from the Amtrak station to the Crowne Plaza... on Google Earth it looks like 6 or 7 blocks, I've found their views can be a little compressed at times though

Get the pie-eyed piper to guide you out of town Ratty.

Bro, I lived outside of Harrisburg about 22 years ago so I will have to differ to one of the City Isle supporters. I never took the train so I am not sure about that one.
I think from the stadium to the stadium should be ok. You should go over to one of the City Isle supporter site and they should be able to give you a heads up.

Besides, Jesse kind of owes it to you for last year )

If Ratty goes in his red kickers shirt, people will assume he has already been mugged and leave him alone.

From what I can tell it will be a grand total of 1 there; at least from Richmond.
In one way I would have loved to have gone but couldn't do it because of work, finances,.....and the sinking feeling I am a jinx on the road.
I've also sworn off ever returning there during July (June and August are pretty iffy too). I don't think I've ever been to a game that was quite that oppresively humid. And living in Richmond, that's saying something. Other than that though, I actually enjoyed my visit there - well except for that dang scoreline that night!!

i'm just glad the softball field is history. I called the Crowne Plaza (thank you Priceline!) and they're about halfway between the station and the stadium, so thats doable. I just didn't want another situation like I had in Trenton, when I took the train up for a hockey game. I hopped in a cab, told the driver where I wanted to go, he looked at me funny, drove me 3 blocks and said "that's $10" oy!

I'm still disappointed that all the times the Army sent me to Harrisburg in the summer, they could never do it the same weekend the Kickers played there! (maybe I need to get over it lol)

Mikeyratt, I looked for you during the halftime but wasn't sure exactly who was was looking for so in the rain it was tough. Hope you had a nice time. Richmond played well and deserved the win. I have some pics and vids on my blog. Click one of the pics to go to the gallery. I have a few in there that show the Kickers. http://blog.pennlive.com/upper90/2009/07/harrisburg_vs_richmond_coverag_1.html

oh turned out to be a nice walk over the Walnut Street Bridge to and from the stadium. my hotel really was about halfway between the station and the stadium. Was a good trip all the way around and not JUST because of the result. Comment of the night came from a little kid in my section, i guess someone at the games sells homemade brownies and smores amd this kid asked him mom "are these SPECIAL brownies" the mom looked around like... I know he didn't just say that!
