Does anyone know anything about the Mississippi Brilla that the Patriots have coming up in a few days? I know that they have an outstanding home record, but I did not know anything beyond that. I hope everyone realizes how big the next two games are in Mississippi and Laredo, as both of the teams are right below the Patriots in the standings with 18 points. It looks as though everything is falling into place with the latest results of the other teams, but the Patriots have to pull through on the field, as they finish the season against the first, third and fourth place teams in the division.

We haven't seen Brilla FC here in El Paso this season, but they weren't a bad team in the first season last year. They have a connection with some talented African players through their ministry (it's run by an evangelical organization). Any road game in this league is a hazard, especially in the spread out Mid-South Division.

Big games to finish the week.

PATRIOTS DEFEAT BRILLA 3-2
El Paso gives Mississippi its first home loss ever

Clinton, MS - July 12, 2008 - After being down by 2 goals thru the first 45 minutes of play, the El Paso Patriots came back in dominating fashion to secure the win and hand the Mississippi Brilla its first home loss in the history of it’s franchise.

El Paso’s first goal came in the 65th minute off the left foot of Defender, John Crawley. Assisted by Enrique Cervantes, Crawley launched a beautiful shot that bent into the upper 90 of the goal box. It was John’s first goal of the season. The equalizing goal came in the 87th minute scored by Defender Hugo Samano with the go ahead goal coming in stoppage time from the mark with Samano posting his second goal for the night after Forward Michael Greigo was taken down inside the box by Mississippi.

With game time at 5:00 pm and temperatures and humidity being extreme, the Patriots did not relent. The win gives the Patriots 24 points and further secures second place in the divisional standings as they continue to make thier push into the play-offs.

The Patriots next game will be on the road against the Laredo Heat and then will return home to play thier final regular season game at home versus the Austin Aztex on July 19, 2008. Game time is set for 7:30 pm and it will be the first ever Patriot bobble head night. The first 1000 fans thru the gate will receive a free bobble head of player Enrique "Kiki" Cervantes.

For more information on the Patriots, the Patriot Youth Academy please call 915-771-6620.

I just read the Diario El Paso and i would think that a team that climbed out of the cellar of the division would at least get a bus to Mississippi. Another big game wednesday at Laredo.
