In my quest to find more soccer to watch live I just noticed that FC New York is scheduled to play at match against Seacoast United Phantoms on Wed 11 July 2012 at the Eastport South Manor High School field in Manorville out here on Long Island.

It appears that FC New York had a spot of trouble in the USL PRO last season. (I'm a newbie just catching up, so forgive me.) And now they are in the NPSL. From their schedule it looks like they don't have a regular home. Is that correct? Or is this roaming schedule a PR thing?

In any case, I'm tempted to head of the ESM High School that night to see them play. Unfortunately, the Rough Riders are playing the same night at Cy Donnelly Stadium in South Huntington, so I'll have to choose.

Angler, getting out to Manorville in the evening rush hour can be a bit dicey to say the least. Let me know sometime and maybe we can meet up at a match.

I've actually been a referee since 1984 in these parts...so sadist is a much better term!

When I first got involved with youth soccer (because of my son), I thought briefly about doing some refereeing (my business partner was a youth soccer referee for years), but after I saw the sort of abuse that parents and coaches heap on the referees that officiate our matches, I formed the idea that being a referee requires a masochist streak.
