Yes, unfortunately the Maryland Pride no longer exists.

I guess that makes sense considering the Washington Freedom are a mere 15 minutes away

Maryland folding had nothing to do with any other team. Imagine if you will, a garden with two gardners. Both do a good job and work together making the garden grow. One day they have an argument over who gets the most out of the garden and while they are fighting about it, the garden dries up.

Kansas City, Oklahoma, plus eight others.....One garden is drying up and the other garden is taking its place... SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST...The one who really cares about what is in the garden rather than what the profit will be can be sucessful..

Point well taken. Starting a W-League team is not the smartest way to make a return on your dollar.

Wouldn't you say most W-League owners realize they won't make money (or better yet expect much of a return on their investment) but have a goal of breaking even over the long term. Making money with ANY sports franchise is no easy task.

Very few teams have shared their goals with me and none that I've been told of were to make money. I cannot really speak of any others, though, wish we had some owners on here to tell us their goals and reasons for having a team.
