Hey guys/gals!

Since the average SoFLa soccer fan knew very little of the PDL whilst the Fusion were playing please enlighten me now that they are gone. Who is the biggest rival? The most feared player? The most talented player on the team? etc.etc.etc.

Are there any pumas fans out there?

Hey Sweeps,

It is written in stone. The club will be out there at their first game to lend out support (oh yeah and tailgate and have a beer or two).

Check out the team's site at www.palmbeachpumas.com

Jose Marcone de Olivera was a great Brazilian player they had. He was on the all-PDL team in 2000, and was the leading scorer of the Orlando Nighthawks D-3 team back in 1998, and 1999 he played with the Jacksonville Cyclones in the A-League.

I really can't say who their "true" rivals are, but I guess it would have naturaly be the Central Florida Kraze, after all, with guys like Haitian goalkeeper Didier Menard, strikers like Sergei Raad, and Justin Cook, along with all-ACC player Donald McIntosh, this season is going to be great! Plus the fact that the Kraze will be playing Palm Beach like, 5 times this year, maybe we can get a "real" rivaly going? Or perhaps, a "Florida Derby" championship, similar to the A-League's "Southern Derby." Any takers? laugh :p

Not much of a webpage, but it will hopefully get better in the future. I see that the strikers are already linked to it. Nice job!

Ah! Yes, the club, the barbecue, the women....what else can I ask for ....

Leca you head up the details on this one -- just let me know what you need from the club. I assume a good barbecue before the big event?

Maybe we can meet some of the team before the actual game that way I know something about them?

Let's go Pumas!!! I went to the site and yeah it needs some work but hey it was interesting none the less. It seems that the USL is really into grass roots soccer and it seems that it actually wants to form a strong relationship between club and city. That is very impressive!

If there is anything that I or our club(Sofla strikers) can do please feel free to let us know.

I think that it's great that you guys are supporting the Pumas. Probably the biggest thing you can do is buy tickets, season tickets would be even better.

Great News!

I met today with Bobby from the Pumas and we are working out some sort of package deal.

Package looks something like this:

The Pumas will play 5 games in locations around Broward County. Before each of the games we will hold a small soccer clinic or small youth match.

The clinic will be followed by a tailgate hosted by the South Florida Strikers *support group* -- Pumas Players will be present.

The tailgate will then be followed by 90 minutes of Pumas soccer. Nothing but heart I tell you.

Details will hammered out soon but we like to see about 200 people out there.

That sounds great!! With several youth coaches involved in our organization, meeting that requirement of 200 shouldn't be unnattainable.

I can't wait for May to roll around!!! Let's go Pumas! The club that wants to have a relationship with the community...what a novel concept!

Cheers!

Sounds like things are moving along quite smoothly. Except some of our members want to kill the older/overweight/out of shape members with a soccer game with 30 minute halves. YIKES!!!!! I guess I will have to play the MLS ref.

Seriously though, a clinic for the kids and for us coaches. Sounds really like it is going to be a good time. I hope we can pull it off.
