Now that many teams have announced websites and play has begun in some cases, anybody care to make some predictions about how the season will go?
I'll go out on a limb and chime in for the Northeast:
1.Rhode Island
2.Vermont
3.Cape Cod
4.Brooklyn
5.Albany
6.Jersey
7.South Jersey
8.Worcester
I think Rhode Island is a solid organization and, with one season in the PDL now, they will get off to the good start they lacked last year.
I don't know what Vermont's roster looks like, and I know that they have lost a few key players, but I believe in organizational strength and Bo Vuckovic's ability to attract and choose good talent. They haven't had a losing season since he bought the team.
Cape Cod is in the same category of club, obviously, but I think they might've used all their magic in winning the championship last year. Coach Paul Turner leaving is a big blow. Still expect them to contend.
Brooklyn - another great organization, but their main goal is development (imagine that!) and not necessarily results. They play young players and young players only.
Albany - expansion team, so hard to tell how they'll do, but backing and commitment go a long way in this league, and they seem to have that in the form of the Blackwatch SC.
Jersey - I think they'll show further improvement this year under new coach Greg Bajek, but likely still not a playoff team. Jersey teams always have trouble with player commitment because there are so many other options for competition.
South Jersey - they will struggle to make the switch from D3 to PDL, and it'll show, especially early in the season.
Worcester - haven't demonstrated yet that they are a quality franchise. Maybe they'll prove me wrong. First game - 5-0 loss - indicates no.
