Last year I went to Milwaukee to see the Thunder playoff match there with some friends. At one point during the game Destin Mukumbu made a nasty tackle and I yelled to him, "Destin you're a hack!" There, in the middle of the field, he gestured in my direction with his middle finger. Not a good showing in front of the home fans if you ask me.

Last Saturday back home in the Twin Cities Troy Dusoski, who is from this area, was looking up in the stands as he was leaving the field after their win. I yelled "Troy! Hey buddy!" and waved to him and once again I was victimized. He gave me the finger right there as he was standing on the field.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of great Milwaukee players. Dino Delevski, John Ball, Jim Larkin and others have all been great and some of them have come over to chat after past matches. They deserve credit for that.

I am just a little concerned that a couple of Milwaukee players might be ruining the game for the kids and families in attendance who do not want to be subjected to such obscenity. The Milwaukee Wave Untied, its fans, and the citizens of Milwaukee should be embarassed and ashamed.

The Rhinos were a classy bunch of gentlemen. Some held back signed autographs others talked to fans. All of them were polite and took the friendly ribbing, "well get our revenge in the finals." with a smile. What a classy bunch of players. Not like some of those no goodniks from Milwaukee.

Mekambu was hilarious. As has been mentioned before, he physically kicked the ball at our little supporters section after it had gone out of play in the Championship game in Milwaukee last year.

Different players have different attitudes, it's the way of the game. There's no need to shelter the children from it, just explain to them why it's very unsportsmanlike to do such things - contrast the player with a class act on a team and show how popular he is compared with the gutter mouth player.

Actually, such players should be lambasted by their own fans, as well as others, as a poor example of what being a professional soccer player means.

Professional carries a certain amount of weight as a title. Not just in ability, but in conduct.

That is currently what sets professional soccer apart from other American sports, and will carry American soccer on.

Our Athletes are held to a degree of professionalism
no longer seen in the more popular sports. Our stars don't charge kids a fee for their autograph, or act standoffish at public events.

And, they are punished for unprofessional behavior on the pitch and off, regardless of their "star power"

As a result, professional soccer players can be, and are, local role models for thousands of children.

Any player behaving or speaking in a grossly inappropriate manner should be charged by the club and the league with bringing the game into disrepute. A common charge in England, and occasionally used elsewhere in Europe, it holds professional players to a standard of conduct that represents their position as role models for their young fans.

Set an example, and it may well be followed.

We've certainly seen the negative version of that philosophy here in the US, where NFL and NBA professionals have become more and more defiant of authority, and unruly in their off-court or field behavior, and incidents of fan riots and vandalism after major games have increased. Which is a very recent phenomenom in American sports.

AJWATT- Baltimore fans have the same distaste for the Dusosky twins--they do the famous "suck this" wrestling manuver when they score in indoor--they need to be better mannered while in the presence of children--and they are old enough to know that--sorry there is just no excuse for that type of behavior in front of fans

I'm not gonna say that the Dusosky's are saints or anything, but with the whole "suck it" thing that Todd does after he scores in indoor, I don't understand what is so unsportsmanlike about that. If you think that he only does it at away games after he scores to tell the opposing fans to suck it, you're thinking wrong. He does it at the home games too. It's just one of his "signature" celebrations. What's the difference if kids see him do it on the field or if they are watching wrestling shows and they see that move and probably worse things done on tv?

So Troy's inspiration is wrestlers? I'm suddenly getting images from the waterboy. I can picture Troys bedroom right now, wrestling pictures above his bed with a sweaty topless man saying "Suck it"... Well what can you expect from an Anokaite. I heard Garrison Keillor before each of his shows still walks around acting like Baron Von Rushkie telling people to, "Put your hand in the Claw!!!".

The real question here is, are you embarassed and ashamed of WU as you should be?

I'm not going to be ashamed of the whole team because of what one player does.

And so thugs will continue to congregate to Milwaukee. A shame really Milwaukee deserves sooo much better. It really is a nice area but when the cities diplomats act like thugs it is hard to not make the judgement that MU is a team for thugs. And like Andy has stated earlier there are some really great players. How sad, I almost feel sorry for MU. Sigh.

Don't let him get to you rampagesoccer. He's still licking his wounds from the two losses Milwaukee has handed the Thunder (on their home turf) this season. Matthew, will you be at the game on July 2? We're coming up to give you another chance, so try and have your guys prepared this time! ha ha

Pish, Posh theres no wound licking here. The discussion is the poor sportsmenship of Milwaukee players. Oh sure Milwaukee got lucky a couple of times but honestly I completly forgot the game results because of the poor sportsmenship of some of the Milwaukee players until you just reminded me Intheknow.
You better believe I'll be at the July 2nd match. It should be an excellent one too unless some MU thug acts up again and ruins a wonderfully played match. Will you be heading this way for the game intheknow?

No I won't. Hey, you have to admit there are few rivalries that can get people excited like those created by the Minnesota-Milwaukee matches. It seems that the intensity of the past between the Thunder and Rampage has carried right over to the Thunder and Wave United. I said before, there's no excuse for giving the finger to fans. There are plenty of hotheads in the league. You can continue to harp on one incident or you can move on. Well anyway, enjoy the game! I'll be listening.

It is great that the rivalary continues between the two teams. A question I've always hoped Milwaukee fans could answer was, why did Boro say that there is no rivalry between the two clubs?

No one speaks for Boro, not that I know of anyway.

Yeah I've heard Boro's temper is pretty short. Funny if you think about it, Boro fit right into the thugish mentality of Milwaukee. HA

I enjoyed the game in Milwaukee that I saw verus MN. I think there have been a few choice "unsportsmanlike" moments on all teams, some more notable then others.
