Me living on the east cost I was wondering who has the best team and the best fans. I know about the Shed and the Southsiders but not too much about the Pond?

They're all better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. As a general rule of thumb, the best one is the one within easy driving distance of your home. You'll find Timbers fans saying Portland is best, Whitecaps fans saying Vancouver is best, and Sounders fans saying Seattle is best, but they're all as biased as a zener diode.

Let's be honest here folks. Am I biased? Of course. But there is no comparison between the Shed and The Pod, hell we travel with more folks than they have in their whole section. The Southsiders draw a few more folks, but their setup doesn't make it easy for them to be heard. At the end of the day neither team has a supporters group like the Timbers have. Amazing when you consider that this is only our second year. Here's a shot from our last home match. Mind you this is the standing only supporters section.

To directly answer the original question, Seattle have the best team of the three and the worst fans of the three.

The Sounders are 4-0-0 against the Whitecaps this year and 29-9-14 over the APSL/A-League era. The Sounders are 3-0-1 against the Timber this year and 5-1-2 in the APSL/A-League years. The Sounders have two A-League championships.

As for the fans, the Sounders have the lowest attendance of the three. The Sounders led the league in attendance back in 1994, but attendance steadily declined since then, although has gone back up this year. Attendance was hurt by the startup of MLS, and over the years people seem to have grown increasingly disinterested in watching matches in Memorial Stadium with its astroturf, pointy football lines, and lack of beer concessions. The fans that show up at Sounders matches are great, and so are the fans at Timbers and Whitecaps matches, But the Sounders just don't have enough of 'em at Memorial.

Point of Clarification....The Timbers beat the Sounders 1-0 here at home. So technically we went 1-3 in the season series. You guys still won the series though.
