dp- This match has got to be good, o.k. maybe more like "interesting". Blast- coach who has lost his mind, but players get paid. Cincy- NR who's mind has been lost for a long time and doesn't pay his players. Good luck guys, to stick around this mess for the love of the game. Without this we would not be able to leave such posts.

Thanks DP for the directions. My friend said he could take me as he goes sometimes and wants to go since this is on national tv. I would like to agree without starting a war with anyone with germany person. When I played for St. Louis U. we had a preseason agains an adult team here and were beaten 3-0. They ranged in age from 26-38 in their starting rotation and frustrated us to death playing very controlled, finding open spaces, a lot of give and go and side sends through the midfield, along with angle through balls in the center mid. We underestimated them because we felt we could wear them down and beat them. Our coach said we had a lesson in patience and had a can of whippass served up to us. He is was right. Mr. Bella, older people are superior to us younger ones as their experience pays off that is if they are well-schooled and skill sound. It is not bad to have younger ones on the field but the older ones kept it together much better than we did and they gave us a hard lesson in the game. Our team went to the sweet 16 of the NCAA that year but got shut out by some old timers as we refered to them. Sorry about the can of comment but our coach was very specific in making a point. It taught us to never take anyone for granted or underestimate anyone. Mr. Germany a question for you, are you a player, an ex-player, or just an avid soccer fan? You seem to know a lot about the game. What is your background sir if I may ask? soccerrogue

First of all soccerrogue, welcome to the board. If you played for St. Louis, you played for coach Donigan, one of the best in the country. Just a short summary Darmstadt SVB 61-62 Eintracht Frankfurt-Bundesliga 62-64 1FC Koln-64-67
Father a keepr for Glentoran in the Irish Football Association and that is how I got into the game.
Played against most of the Englishmen sited on the board but not Pele, Puskas, or any of the Brazilian contingent. Had a wonderful career until my mother wrote to me to come home and get and honest job making honest money. So I came back here and did so. It is good to have you on the board and hope you will stop by at a game and say hello. I can be found in German attire with a beautiful little Asian daughter sitting on the North end of the home side. Say hello. Thanks for inquiring and hope you become a fast fan. The team needs all they can get at the moment and needs to keep all the hardcore ones they have. Cheers to you soccerrouge. Maybe if you still play the team could use you. gforever

Wow man. You must have been awesome to play at that level. I assume you played against the Germans on your post to Bella. How did you get to Germany to play? What a gig. What position did you play man. I will definitely look you up at the next game. You and my dad have to talk. He goes back to the seventies also and is a big soccer fan. Thanks for sharing and I think I am going to like this board. Seems like a lot of hardcore soccer people and that is my kind of people. Thanks again. Got to get to work. soccrrogue

Thank you young man for the vote of confidence on the awesome. Not so. I was technically sound, played my angles well, had a good breakdown move and very good elevation for flying, punching, and extending to receive. I read attacks well enough to play and I had something not seen much in Germany and that was a 6'2" inch frame with a 30 inch vertical included. I was not the best keeper in Germany. Hans Tilkowski, Sepp Maier, and Egon Loy were all better than I and Hans played in the 66 World Cup losing to England and Sepp won the World Cup playing for West Germany in 74. Egon was twice German champion. All three had GPGA of 1. in a 70 game season. We played fewer then than you do today. All of them averaged 15-20 clean sheets a season when I played so you knew you were going to have to score to tie them when you played. I enjoyed it and really enjoy watching how soccer has improved in America in the last two decades. It has come a long way and just keeps getting better as witnessed by the performance of the American side in the last world cup. The played marvelously and did America proud. It has charged the youth programs of this country beyond anything else that could have happened. Combined with the success of your womens national team, soccer is on a rampage here and the next world cup in Germany will be something to see if the USA can find some good defenders in the back as Reyna will probably be retired and Jeff Agoos I hope will not make the team as he stunk up the American defense when he played. Your keepers are solid with Freidel and Keller and your attackers are awesome with Mathis, Donovan, Beasley(needs some beef), McBride if still around and Wolfe. You have a great nucleaus coming back and some great ones probably coming on in the next three years from the fine collegiate programs such as IU, St. Louis U, Stanford,Virginia and so on. Keep up the good posts soccerrogue and glad to have you aboard. You will find a lot of knowledge on this board and alot of good insights. gforever
