Bellasoccer fan where are you??? I notice that you are conspicuously absent since I accused you of being Kim. You were so forceful in your posts and now you abandon a thread that YOU started??? Curious eh?

bella: I hardly think this team needs to become younger. Take a look at the roster, these guys a generally pretty young. Keep the coach - fire the coach, either way, this is not an old team.
Further, the season is now 12 games old fitness, aside from injuries, should not be an issue.
Finally, Futbolman suppose the team wins not only 10 games but 10 games straight. You don't think people will still comment on how the team could improve? Heck, how often have you heard about people criticizing Brazil for not winning with enough flair?

Cheers to you mate. Where in Northern Ireland would you be from now? My father was a keeper for Glentoran quite few years back and wonder if you are close to the Belfast area? If the photo on your profile is of you, you look like a fit young man in your days. Best wishes to you and may the wind be always at your back. gforever

Blastro: What do you mean age doesn't matter!!! How can you honestly say that. I think their are others who think the same way. You mean you think a player who is almost 30years old and a player is 20 years old can compete at the same level? Maybe in some sports but not SOCCER!I'm not saying they should retire but they should take on a different role now on the team. Like coming off the bench for minutes not starting! I really do believe they need younger players! Maybe new young players would bring life back to this OLD TEAM! I BELIEVE ON SUNDAY IF THEY WOULD HAVE HAD A COUPLE YOUNG 20 YEAR OLDS OUT THERE THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT!!!! LIKE A WIN INSTEAD OF A LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh Bella I do not know when I have read a more intuitive, insightful, logical, and comprehensive post on soccer than your observation that a 30 year old cannot compete with a twenty year old his level in soccer. You are kidding right or are do you really believe that. Just a little upgrade on your soccer education and hope this helps. Dino Zoff, World Cup champion Italy, 40 goalie Bobby Moore, World Cup champion and World cup participant finishing fourth at age 33, champion at 29 Gylmar, Brazil, champion at 31, and 35. Goalie Banks WC champion 66 at age 29 Garrincha, WC champion at 29 and 33 DiStefano, Real Madrid, European Cup Champion, 56-60 ages 30-34 Gerd Muller, West Germany WC Champion, 29 Wolfgang Overath, West Germany WC Champion,31 Sepp Maier, WC Champion, 31 Franz Beckenbauer WC Champion 31 and European Cup champion at 32-35 age. 75-77 Ferenc Puskas, Spanish champion from 59 to63 Real Madrid and European Cup champion at ages 32, 33, 39. Jimmy Greaves WC Champ 26 scored 357 goals in 516 games, and 47 goals in 57 international games. NO one has ever achieved that ratio over a career including Pele. Pele Brazil, WC Champion 58, 62, 70 at age 29. He scored over a 1000 goals in his career and won an American championship here with the New York Cosmos at age 36 or 37 playing with Beckenbauer and Chinaglia all three up in their careers. All of the above are legends of soccer and could play with anyone regardless of their age and did and I could go on and on but not enough space. The fact is that the great ones were well up in the careers and World Cup champs and European cup champs in the later part of their careers and dominated the competion. Can you say DUH or excuse me I made a big mistake and statement to accompany my mistake. Please post only what you know and do not equate age with ability to perform. By the way, Carlos Valderama who played on the Columbian team and is in the MLS is 42 and he can compete with any of them and does so today. Let us be very careful when you start talking about twenty year olds being a level above the 30 year olds. Ain't nescessarily so Bella. gforever

Sounds like you all have a lot of team problems What is going on and where do the Blast play. Just moved here from St. Louis and looking for good soccer. IU has not started so I found this site through a friend. What is the problem with your team and who is this guy that knows so much about the old players. He and my dad should get together. My father played in the Irish leagues before coming here and he would probably know all those old timers, some I know and Pele of course. I guess you all are going to be on TV from what I have read. Do you get big crowds for your team and how is it doing. soccerrogue

I once heard from a head coach who won an A-league championship in Milwaukee Last year. There's only two people measured in wins and losses in soccer, one is the goalkeeper and one is the coach.
If a team is failing miserably to even gain any results you have two choices, fire the coach/coaching staff (1-5 people) or fire the team (18+players). trust me firing the team is the last thing you do before folding a team. when you get rid of the players even the most casual fan knows the team and organization is in trouble.
Since the coaches are paid to get results on the field, they are the first to go when the results don't come. At 1-10-1 its pretty obvious that the results haven't come.

germanyforever, I agree with you 100%. You are someone that knows what they are talking about. Must have played back in the day?? Bella, sure it's nice to have some young blood on the field, but those older players have so much experience under their belts you need them to teach the young ones some lessons.

soccerrogue5, The Blast play live on Foxs Sports World this Friday night at 7:35pm. They play at Kuntz stadium on west 16th St just north and west of downtown. It is across the street from Bush Stadium where the Indians used to play. This really isnt good soccer at this point as they are 1-10-1 and the team is in an uproar due to the actions and inactions of a failed head coach and club mgmt. See the posts over the last 2 weeks for a DETAILED explanation. Cheers!!
