Hi guys, looking at the phone device option and was wonder why something like this for $20 wouldnt work?

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....rentPage=search

it can connect to a mic out port on the pc? only thing I am thinking of for why it wouldnt work is the file type it is encoded in to then relay the stream?

please advise.

Propes can say more about Icecast, but I know Shoutcast will broadcast any input stream and I would assume Icecast is the same.

That thing should work; it is the same sort of device as the Voiceport we have been using. Plug it into the mic jack on your computer and configure your webcast software to stream that input out to the internet. You should be able to stream it without saving it to a file, although you would want to so that you have an archive of it.

to archive it I can just use stream ripper on my own shoutcast for free. Thanks for the heads man, that makes this whole deal a lot cheaper.

Certainly looks like it would work, and for $20 it's not much of a gamble. If it works, let me know - I'll update the webcast how-to page.

Oh, and to answer the Shoutcast/Icecast thing.

IceCast is the local streaming host (what you would use at the Encoding Site) - you can send the stream to ShoutCast (a broadcasting site and service).

Propes-

Love the how to page man. Very nice.

Next home game I will get a better photo of the two of you in the booth using fill flash and ambient outdoor lighting so you guys aren't lurking in the shadows.
