Good bit of news there! I had thought he retired. Shows how much I care about MLS!

With the MLS contraction, this year ought to be a very interesting Open Cup. I can't wait!!

He did, but came out of retirement last year; I think we played for Los Angeles, but I'm not sure.

The print version of the article (about twice as long) also says that Eric Wynalda, who shares the same agent as Lallas, has also expressed interest in playing for the Thunder, but Jim Froslid has said he just can't afford it.

OK, would be cool, but I understand. smile

I noticed that in the print article this morning. Personally I think Wynalda would probably help the team more then Lalas, at least on the field. At this point in his career, I don't really know that Alexi is a significant improvement over our current defenders. I do think it could be used as a selling point to help raise attendance and interest in the team, though, and that's always a good thing.

I did find it amusing, though, that the article began with "International soccer star Alexi Lalas..." He may have been the closest thing the US had to an international star in 1994 or so, but now? Not so much.

We knew it was a longshot, but it's not going to happen. The Pioneer Press this morning printed a small blurb that Lalas has decided on either the MLS or overseas, but not the Thunder.
