Dan every so often some one asks about try outs and we dont have a direct forums for it, im sure some people tire of giving out the same info each time but are still willing to be helpful.

Maybe a forums header like each of the teams have would be good for try outs.

If you want id even be will to do a webpage to add to a-league.com and the tryouts forums link on usl could be a redirect to that.

Im tring to sharpen up my webdesign skills and would love to do it.

Thanks, JB

Hey JB,

Interesting idea. I could certainly create a forum for tryouts postings that could be used by fans, interested players, and teams.

I could also add a 'Tryout Info' link on a-league.com and have that redirect to this forum. No big deal there smile !

One question though. Would this be better in the A-League forum, our more generally placed in the US Leagues area.

Also, looking at the number of forums, maybe the USL Leagues are should be broken in two, with A-League, D3, PDL, W-League and Super Y-League left in the USL Leagues area, and move the rest to a new area like 'USL General Discussions' ?

Just a thought, since you mention cleanup wink ...

I've also thought about changing the front page display characteristics to show just the Major listing area, then you would click into those to get that area's complete forum listing. It would shorten to the load time of the front page dramatically !

Thoughts ? (any and all are welcome to comment smile )!

Maybe a link on a-league.com and a single try out forums in the main topics along with free for all and trading etc etc.

Each team having its own would be a little much. also the forums could have the redircted link to the webpage.

I.E when u open the atlanta silverbacks board you get a link to there main webpage....same concept but for try outs.

As before id happly work on the page for you and send its contents so you can ftp it to the website.

I would actually enjoy doing it...if you want to stick to a color scheme or something like that or what your page widths are thats fine to.

I use dreamweaver to design my sites, toot me an e-mail and let me know.

Cheers, JB.

Concept:

A-league.com - Links to Try outs webpage -> Info contact information yarda yarda -> link to forums and topic posting area.

Forums topic --> Try outs
Link to ----> webpage info on try outs (redirect to same page on a-league.com about try outs.)
POSTING
POSTING
POSTING

This way either site they hit first would give them access to both.

For this page i could do imgsrc="image.jpg" and redirect them to links already on a-league.com or resave them to the page as a fresh (takes up some extra file space other...method takes up a little bandwith (image leeching)).

Great idea!!

I believe that the new forum should be up asap. I've been looking for info like that for a long time and having a forum would make it a lot easier.

thanks

Hey JB, I'm getting there wink ......Been busy the last month getting multiple sites moved to the new host, and dealing with business issues.

Is this a place that fans will post tryout info, or teams ?

I don't want to get into adding extra links on each forum page, so the top end Tryout forum would be a better fit.

Then it is a matter of what information gets posted there and what the source is.

There will always be players interested in finding out about tryout info, but without legitimate input from teams posting their specific info, it won't really be much help to any players, and that is what this would be for, correct ?

Dan

Well, to get the ball rolling, if something does get setup, you can post/link this; the Battery has announced details on 3 weeks of trials starting in December.

Basicly my idea was for bribetaker and others to post the officail news like good fans and the rest of us help people when they post about try outs.

My offer still stands for a webpage to be made based around try outs where they can get all the info they need.

JB, go ahead and put something together.

Do you need me to host it, or will you do that yourself ?

Feel free to host yourself if you wish and use your own design. smile

We'll add appropriate links when ready.

Dan

If you could host it on a-league.com it would be cool.

But I will work on putting something as for a webpage.

I should have a bit of time as my host for www.backs-fan.com is down at the moment and I cant ftp my own content.

Works for me. I'll email you the styles file I use on a-league.com so you can incorporate that into your layout.
