As an experienced GK he may come in as the confirmed #1.

Or, as the #2 if Van Ooooooo comes back and can hold on to what he has carved up last year in MN. Van Oooooo obviously thinks there is greener grass somewhere else in America. So you need a plan B. Hildebrandt is good, but still young.

If Sattler comes in with just a chance to be #1 at his age, he is worth picking up and paying a good salary to because he knows D2 and may also be needed in helping to develop the next #1 for MN, after Van Ooooo finds his greener grass. If he does become the #1 he will have to keep his job by playing exceptionally well all season long...?

Remember that MN Stars has never hired a real keeper coach. Having a group of keepers (one who is an experienced senior player/GK coach) is a great way to never have a problem with the spot in the goal. Why hire a GK coach when you can hire an experienced GK still capable of playing in games?

Goalkeepers have more of a mental than physical job. It's best to have someone who has a lot of experience standing around alone doing nothing for a long time (while not getting distracted by a bunch of jackasses constantly yelling at him), and have the experience and reflexes to suddenly respond instinctively and correctly, in a fraction of a second.

32 year old field players have already started deteriorating, but that is a prime age for a goalkeeper.

Brad Friedel is 86 years old, fact.

I think if there is one thing DC United needs is a second good GK. I think MVO would be a good fit. He is also from eastern Virginia so it would work for him.

For the record, Dykstra is back from Europe. So they have Hamid, Willis, Dykstra and VO in camp.

I'm told first cuts are coming soon.

DC United's GK coach Pat Onstad just left the team, so there may be more going on than meets the eye...

He was Bill Hamid's mentor?

I got some inside info on some of the unsigned Stars players from the 2012 roster. Nobody really cares what I have to say so keep speculating and provide other bloviations.

I am closing my law firm and leaving MN in a few weeks. Hopefully I will see you guys at some Stars matches this year. Cheers!

Good luck on your future endeavors soccer boy

here is a link to Manny being on CCO last night with Eric Nelson

link

it's in the 9pm hour segment and kicks off pretty much at the beginning

edit it add: I guess there wasn't much roster speculation in the interview so sorry for plopping the link in this thread but still pretty good listen

There's a great Mannyism.
