Orlando City Stadium Deal

It's no secret that Orlando City is trying to become the next expansion franchise in Major League Soccer. But what might be a surprise is just how close the team might be to announcing plans for a new soccer-specific stadium in Orlando.

While recent reports out of New York City have Mayor Bloomberg and MLS commissioner Don Garber "very close" to completing a deal to build a new $300M stadium in Flushing Meadows, Orlando City's front office has been quietly working with MLS, Orlando's Mayor, Orange County's Mayor, and private financers to finalize a plan of their own.

Would there be any good soccer left is Orlando left D3 soccer? I have to admit that I do not follow USL PRO, but from what I hear, they basically give every team they play a beat down and act like they are destined for MLS.

Being a casually NASL observer, I see a team like San Antonio making the move before anyone else. MLS has a lot to lose if they become a East Coast/West Coast team.

PS: Is there really anything to do in Orlando than Disney and Universal Studios. I think about 1 million live in the Orlando Metro area. Even a city like St. Paul, MN has a bigger skyline.

OC is definitely the class of the league, however, teams 2-7 are pretty solid as well. D3 overall has stabilized pretty well and the action on the field has gotten better. LA, and Dayton have improved and hopefully our 'Hounds will improve with a new sss and perhaps some more revenue (but time will tell)next year. OC would be a big loss, but I am grateful for their success. It would also be great to see Rochester bring back some (even half) of the fans they got when they played at Frontier.

Kind of hard to go to MLS if you cant win the lowly D3 championship.

SB, who are you referring to, OC - they won the championship last year?

'Lowly' D3, that's like saying the Stars won the lowly NASL or the Galaxy with the MLS compared to the top leagues in the world. Bottom line, it is what we have.
