Some may like the current Major League Soccer alignment. I remember when there were 3 Divisions, back when Florida had teams in the league. Maybe it's time for a change? My idea; Eastern Conf. Northeast Div.; N.Y., N.E., D.C., Phila and Montreal Central Div.; TFC, Chicago, FC Dallas, Houston and Sporting KC
Western Conf. Southwest Div.; Los Angeles, C.D. Chivasusa, Real Salt Lake and Colorado Northwest Div.; San Jose, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver

Wow, may be closer than we think. So are we thinking NASL 2013, MLS 2014? I guess this would be the Cosmos new home, or am I connecting dots that aren't there?
Marc - would that Flushing location be a good one for fans to get to? Have to imagine its easier to get to than RB Arena?

The 7 subway line basically ends in Flushing, that is an improvement on the PATH getting to Harrison. However, there is the added advantage of having plenty of parking available at CitiField. So yeah, that would be a vast improvement on RBA. However, there is absolutely no guarantee that the Cosmos will be MLS20.

they can likely get $100mill in their sleep, my guess is that the final asking price on this is going to be around $200mill.

I'm sorry, the NASL may be considered the second level, but I do not see any of the teams moving up to the MLS, especially not the expansion Cosmos. I understand the MLS want for a New York rivalry, but they have other Northeastern teams. But then, they have two teams in L.A. with Los Angeles and Chivas. they should get more teams in the continental U.S. and more in Canada, though. Minnesota is rumored to be trying for an MLS team as they build a new stadium for the NFL Vikings.
As far as my original post, just East and West still seems too traditional, with the many teams. And a Central Division may make it hard for an All-Star game. But when the league plays opponents from the world, who counts the Conferences?
