All, My wife Angie is fundraising for Team in Training, (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) for the NIKE Women's Marathon in San Francisco. See her fundraising page by following the link. http://pages.teamintraining.org/mn/nikesf12/awrightnsuWe were wondering if the Dark Clouds would have a problem with us doing a brats/hotdogs and chips fundraiser during the tailgate at the August 11th home game. We would bring everything, brats, hotdogs, buns, chips, all the fixings and charcoal for the grill. We were thinking $3 for a brat and chips and $2 for a hotdog and chips. And probably an extra bag or two of charcoal for you guys to keep. We wouldn’t monopolize the grill either. We’d leave space for others to grill if they wish to. We would also have some signs from Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I’ve tried contacting the team about this, but since they don’t really run the stadium or the grounds around it they really cannot say yes or no. If anyone has any ideas about who from the NSC we should contact, or if the Dark Clouds are cool with this please let me know. Thanks, Jesse Wright

Nobody else is weighing in, but I'm going to go ahead and say the Dark Clouds support this and will promote it 100%. We'll find something else to do with the free food from BW3 and others that weekend. They'll understand we're going to try to do some fundraising.
MAYBE SOME OF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP AS A SILVER LINING OPPORTUNITY.
Also, I lost my sister-in-law to non-Hodgkins lymphoma four years ago. Thanks for picking a good charity.
EDIT: Don't worry about the team. I'll smooth it over with them. This'll be fine.

Hairygrump,
Thanks. I've been in contact with Angie Blaker and she gave me the name of someone to contact at the NSC. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
The team doesn't seem to have an issue with it as they don't own or run the grounds. So it now falls to what the NSC says.
If for some reason they don't like the idea or won't allow it. There is nothing that says we still can't do it.
Maybe we just don't have signage from LLS out there, and we don't "charge" for the brats/hotdogs and chips. We just take a "donation".
LLS is a group my wife is very passionate about. While they focus on Leukemia and Lymphoma, they also support other types of cancer research.
This is important to my gal as she lost her grandmother to cancer a few years ago and her step-dad is battling prostate cancer.
We appreciate any and all ideas you guys may have towards making this fundraising thing happen.

I think this sounds like a great idea. We've had people make/bring food and accept donations to cover the cost in the past, so I don't see why we can't do this.
Bring the signage - it's always good to know where the money is going. Makes me more likely to give. I'd like to see some sort of donation bucket also, to make it easy on anyone who wants to give a little more than just the $3 for food.
Part of the Dark Clouds mission is to donate to charity. We have a designated charity each year, plus now this year we have Silver Lining; adding this to the tailgate fits perfectly, I think.

GumbyGrrl,
Thanks for the feed back.
We aren't looking to cover costs here, so much as just fund raise for LLS, and for her to be able to go to San Fran for the NIKE Women's Marathon.
My gal had mentioned the same thing about a donation bucket and we will bring the signage along.
As I mentioned before we contacted the team and now the NSC, just because we didn't want to step on toes.
And again I cannot thank you guys enough for the positive feed-back on this. As I stated before, we will put the wheels in motion on our end.
Just so we know, what would be a good time for us to get there on August 11th to get things going. We would like to be there and set up early so we can have stuff ready as people start showing up.
Thanks!
Jesse

Typically the DC vanguard is there around 5PM, and we're usually there alone setting things up until 5:30 or so. The real action goes from 6-7:15, once the Surly shows up.

Grump,
Good to know. I got an email back from the NSC today saying they could not condone us 'selling' any food as part of a fundraiser.
That said, we weren't really planning on 'selling' more giving away brats or hotdogs and people making donations to LLS in return.
We are planning on going forward with this and will be there around 5pm to get things going. We will have some signs and a donation bucket to go along with all the brats, hotdogs, and everything.
Thanks grump and gumbygrrl for your input and support here.
Jesse

BUMP!
All Angie and I will have hotdogs, chips and cookies at the tailgate this Saturday.
No charge, we are only asking for donations to go to Team in Training, (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society).
We will be there and have dogs, chips, cookies, and all the fixings ready to go at 5pm.
We hope to see you all there.
Thanks, Jesse
