I'll see them on Saturday as the Express travels out here to Long Island to take on the Rough Riders. With the express drawing with Reading United last night, they are tied in pts in second place behind the Nor'easters. Reading plays the Nor'easters on Friday, so the Express should know what they need to do to get into the playoff by the time they make the trip to Long Island.

The Express did look good last night. They managed an early goal against the Rough Riders and the Riders seemed to press for awhile, but couldn't break through the Express defense. In the second half the Express got a gift of a goal on a breakaway that beat the Rider defense who were pulled forward to attack. I think that was in the 75th minute. After that it just looked like the RRs were either frustrated or tired. Their play in the last fifteen minutes was erratic and error-prone.

On the upside, my son got his soccer ball signed by the team after the match and he said, "The Rough Rider players are real nice."

We did see the ladies play against the Valkyries before the men played. The women were more successful, a 1-nil win. However, it appeared the ladies were not up to their usual form, just a little slow, and inaccurate with their passing which is uncharacteristic of them. The Valkyries looked sharper, but luck wasn't with them last night.
