Jw7- I admire you enthusiasm, but I disagree. The league needs to sell this team to an owner. They need to actively sell it to keep on the path to success and with complete divestment of the Traffic ownership groups to no longer require waivers from USSoccer.

Failing to have a meeting with the Vikings is a problem. Think of the plus side they could have of selling the team...the connection to MLS future, the ability to build a base and be ready for 2018 (or whenever).

I don't think the fact that the NASL have not chased down an NFL owner who has mentioned that he wants to have an MLS someday is a failure Rook, but I understand why you might come to that conclusion. We are all concerned about the new developments in our league.

You don't often sell a lower level (cheaper) product to someone who has publicly said they want something more expensive and have the money to buy that. If Zigy was really interested and had a passion to operate a soccer team he would be well aware of the fact that the local team was looking for an owner.

In the end, I would like to see a MLS team owned by someone who has had a long developed passion for the game of soccer first and foremost. A NFL dome stadium is the last place I would like to see the team be based out of in Minnesota. But like everyone else who cares about the MN Stars I just want someone to buy the team and operate it to be the best they can be.

The league principles are the best ones to know who and when to sell one of their asset to. They will have to work along side that person for a long time and having enough money is only one of the important factors when looking for new owners/partners in any business. I happen to think the NASL owners are smart people and have done a great job with their new league.

Zigy has a good set up now to develop a team and take it up to D1 when his stadium is ready. He should take advantage of that opportunity before someone else comes along with better attributes of a good soccer team owner.

He would not have been my first choice to operate the team before the stadium deal/MLS no rent deal came along.

This is probably the last thing he needs to worry about. We can't even find an owner for a D2 franchise in MN... despite the massive amount of Fortune 500 companies here.

Zygi Wilf does not need to worry about another MLS hopeful entering the mix - which is precisely what's problematic for saving the Stars.

Are the Vikings fully owned by the Wilf family, or are there silent minority partners?

The stadium bill had the interesting caveat of MLS exclusivity to someone with 5% stake in the team.

I think people need to realize is the new stadium won't just be a NFL dome. It will be the one of the top 10 most expensive stadiums ever built.

And my personal opinion is Zygi won't be the owner of the team. He's got a football team to run. Look to the rest of his family if you want to see the future owner.

If the Cosmos have to play at the stadium at Hofstra in 2013 just to get going, then they'll be playing on Long Island. It might not happen, but if it does, I could see myself getting to most/all home matches.
