Ernest held his own in the center of the back line tonight and even scored the winning goal. Good stuff Ernest!

Ibarra (and Venegas) worked hard and used their speed to say on the right side of the ball going in both directions and Ibarra sealed the deal with the second goal of the game with a great finish off a creative play inside the box by Taka.

Van Oekel made a couple of huge saves to keep another clean sheet.

We are really looking like a complete team, one that completes the job of working hard in both directions with and without the ball.

We still need a bit more work on the pressure/cover roles/work rate of the two central backs. We seem to get lazy back there at least once in every game so far. Defenders should be able to play 90 minutes without losing concentration and without making a large mistake each game.

The system is conservative and based around good defending, but the players are choosing the times to go forward, and the others around them respond to the change in shape when the time is on to shift players forward.

The attack has more then just one dominate element, it can and does change during the game.

New player enter the game and it still works well...

Still a bit rough around the edges overall, but some very good patterns to build on with a lot of time still ahead.

cool

That was a very satisfying win after last weeks frustrating tie game at Atlanta.

I especially liked how our guys all kept their cool while Atlanta was melting down all over the field. In some ways they were lucky to only have 2 guys see red cards. They were nut jobs.

And it was fun to be back in our midfield seats at the Nessie!

I would like to point out that KJ was not pointing out "grammatical" errors, he was pointing out "lexical" errors. I will not go down without a fight!

This was probably the most satisfying thing from last night to me. Got some different guys some playing time, and didn't seem to miss much of a beat. Seems like the depth on the team is getting better, which is always a good sign.

Great to see Captain Kyle Altman (and his tassled loafers) come over and hang out with the Dark Clouds for a bit.

Also props to the (actual, physical) dark clouds that threatened the horizon menacingly, but then saw fit not to drench us. That was nice.

Yeah, they were the worst behaved team I've seen in a while and easily the most wound up. Foul play and bad sportsmanshp from them which fortunately did them absolutely no good.

Danny Illyes took time out of his busy ball-fumbling schedule to tell me to f*** off, and Martina Lancaster made hand gestures at me as he walked slowly off the field - specifically the talking hand gesture, which is kind of funny because I was heckling him... so yeah, I'm aware that I'm talking genius. I'd have replied in kind, but I don't know the hand gesture for "Ljungskile Reject".

Next time their here, we should really try to wind them up, because calm professionals they are not.

We should start a halftime tradition of standing near the tunnel and telling Atlanta who great they are and why they need a leader like Jonny Steele.

When I was walking back from getting Bud Lime-a-ritas (which tasted about as expected) I happened to be walking around the corner when Carien was taking one and let him have an earful from 2-3 ft away though didn't get the same reaction.

Nothing like being made fun of by a man in a giant Nessy outfit eh?
