I had a friend send me a message looking for some version of the futsal pick up this spring summer. I know many of you have leagues, but would anyone be interested in finding a Dark Clouds pick-up day?
If so, any preferences on time/day?

There is a group in Minneapolis that plays pickup. They have a group on Facebook. Between my kids playing soccer and my soccer training, I am too busy for pickup.

I'd love to see something like the pick-up futsal happen again. That was a lot of fun.

Let's talk parks, then.

NE Athletic Field is right on top of a couple of us, but it's pretty heavily used already. (Pretty convenient to Mayslack's)

MLK park at 42nd and Nicollet has some nice grass and some games going on as well. (just 3.2 bars in that neighborhood, but some of the best burger places in the city including the Lowbrow, Kings, Town Hall Tap and Adrian's)

Another SMPLS one is McRae park on 46th and Chicago, where we'd have to schedule around actual little kid soccer, but it's near the same bars as above. No fences to kick the ball over too.

Brackett park isn't quite as freeway-accessible, but it's got some space (and is right next to Merlin's Rest)

Forgive me if this is biased towards being near my house, but that's where I want to do it.

Time to dig this out, I guess.

The group on Facebook is "Minneapolis Pickup Soccer." I think they use the NE Athletic Field. I would like to go to one of their events, but always run into conflicts.

the facebook group only plays on Sunday afternoons.
Along with the place, we should talk day/time. Saturday mornings and afternoons are great for me. Tuesday/Thursday nights should be good (though some of you will have league games). Sunday morning works for me as well.
Then we can check to see about those fields. The NE MPLS parks are great (well, they're ok), plus they'll be close to that new Indeed microbrew.

There are pick-up games every night at 6 at NE Athletic fields with a lot of people. I am going to go on most Tues/Thurs nights if anyone wants to join me.

Give us your impressions on playing there. What's it like? I plan on showing up in a few weeks. Still trying to rehab some previous injuries.
