Flags are cool, but like Ford said at the Nessy you are usually below the stands so it isn't much of an issue. The real question is, were there any available seats to avoid the flags?
I kid. I kid. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but a comment like this reminds me of the old fuddy duddies my grandma sits next to at Gopher football games. They bitch non-stop about people standing up when something fun happens. You are at a football game and the Gophers are doing something good. Stand up and cheer. It is kind of like living near a gun club. I love walking outside in the evening and hearing the snaps for the guns going off in the distance. My neighbor on the other hand bitches about it all the time. You knew it was there when you moved in, so don't complain!

And at the Nessie waving the flags "down front" still blocks line of sight for most of the field. Flags should be near the back of the Nessie or by the little concession stand. Still visable but not blocking the game. We want more people with us, not less. Blocking the view of the field will make people move to other areas. Telling them "if you don't like the flags go somewhere else" will also make them move somewhere else....and mean fewer people in our section. We didn't like when the PT squad would block our view. Why is waving a flag in front of other people for the whole game okay? Answer: It's not.

having the flags waving at the dome was fun. The dome was an event; the game of course, but more. At the Nessy, we usually wave the flags when there's a reason (goal, ending the half, winning the game); that makes sense to me. Sometimes there are children or newbies or drunks who wave the flags unnecessarily, but we just need to gently remind them to watch the game and wave the flags at the aforementioned appropriate times. 'k? I'm there to watch the game - if I can't see, I'm not happy. (That's why I stand in front. Well, that and I tend to fall down the bleachers...)

I am stoked that you provided some new locations for places people can wave flags. Because the solution is a compromise. Supporters do more than watch the game, we contribute. Our team doesn't need support after a goal. They need it before it, they need it after the opposing team scores. They need it while they make the attack. They need songs, cheers, jeers, heckling, hassling, jackassery, smoke bombs, road flares, tifo, and flags too. That's our job. We are the 12th man, and I hope you believe we can make a difference, because if we don't... well I may have to admit I'm just a grown man who wishes he was a mouskateer. So, in terms of flags let's reposition. But I am definitely against removing them.

As someone who watches the supporter's section from afar,..
Up top seems the best since it will serve to increase our vertical; fill up space that isn't actually being used and make the supporter's section seem larger and livelier. The waving flags would only cover your going-ape faces anyway. No sense in covering what we have.
Flags up top, crazy energetic people in the middle, capo/kids down front would seem best for viewers.

I did not sit in the supporters section during the Dome opener and it looked really cool the way it was. You can still be a part of the "group" by sitting on the side of all the flags etc., and still participate in the jackassery.

I was "amused" during the dome game by the way that when our team was at the other end of the field and i couldnt really see the action the flags were down then when they came to our end and the action was right there in front of me that people went flag crazy and i couldnt see a damn thing. So really I didn't see much.
