In fact the Islanders controversially switched to Admiral for a custom kit this year as well. They had been with Umbro I believe. It was sort of a political thing to switch uniform suppliers which actually was the straw that broke the camels back and drove one of the many owners of the team to pull out of the ownership group.
I'm thinking that the San Antonio Nike kit may be the only standard issue home and away kit in the 8 teams and I was told on Wednesday that they will have a custom 3rd kit coming a while after the season starts.

Everything in PR is political. In this case one of the owners also owned several retail sports stores and had initially negotiated the deal with Umbro a number of years agao which was actually a pretty good sponsorship. I believe they were actually getting a decent chunk of change for the deal. The change effected his business and I believe he has now also closed his stores. There were also power struggles going on within the ownership group. So this just capped things off. I think there are 5 or 6 owners and one of them is the tourism dept. of PR.

I had missed this until yesterday, but evidently there is a kit teaser by the Stars. However, it doesn't really tease as there is not even a veiled or partial glimpse of the jersey in the video.
