Good luck to the new and improved 2012 MLS Montreal Impact.

Make us all proud of you just as we are of the other former D2 teams Vancouver Whitecaps, Portland Timbers, and Seattle Sounders.

D2 (NASL) and D3 (USL Pro) have had a large effect on D1 no one can dispute that fact now.

Seattle will open up the upper deck for the Cascadia Cup games this year. They expect they can sell over 45,000 tickets this year.

I once said the fans and team staff of D2 teams had more passion and would someday play a large role in D1 and that small part of US Soccer history is now happening and you were all part of it.

It's so exciting watching the kids grow up into adults. smile

The first MLS team Cup rivalry games:

New York (*Red Bulls) vs DC United (Business vs Government)
May 5th 1996
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Cup_(Major_League_Soccer)

San Jose Earthquakes vs LA Galaxy (North vs South)
1996 (exact date?)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Clasico
(*no games 2006-08)

Yep, I never heard of them ether until I went looking for them...?

Also want to extend that wish of good luck to all the players who have worked hard to get up into (or back into) the MLS, especially Jonny Steele.

2-0 Vancouver

Oh well, we know Montreal will win at least one MLS game this year. After all Toronto owes them one from that whole Nutrilite thing a few years ago. whistle

Great stuff!
Another former D2 team makes good in D1.

58,900 people showed up in Montreal to wish the newest MLS team good luck.

* It was almost the biggest pro soccer game ever in Canadian history, but that award still belongs to Vancouver with over 60,000 fans in attendance at a pro league game in 1983.

I am in agreement with JW here. Any team that can draw that much in North America is win for football.

Good job on the great turnout!

I predict that Montreal draws big crowds regardless of how many games they lose. Great fan base!
