A topic for following the players who have made a contribution, large or small, to the professional soccer teams of Minnesota. The first item: http://www.liberiansoccer.com/FIFA_Employs_Louis_Crayton_As_Instructor200199181716151413112121.htm"Congrats to Louis on this great honor" enthuses That little old jersey collector Me Both the Villa scorers, Withe and Mortimer, were born in Liverpool, as was the Villa Manager Ron Saunders, who was born in Birkenhead. - David Coleman, BBC Sports

Hmmm - Evidently physically assaulting reporters gives you good credentials for being a FIFA employee. That would be fitting for FIFA. http://is.gd/yvXFOq

Well, I sadly report that Master Luke Mulholland has moved onto the competition. Tampa Bay coach Ricky Hill told me at the NSCAA Convention that they were in discussions with Luke and they really wanted him. Looks as if they got it done. http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/index.php?id=31&newsid=1661Best part of the press release is how they carefully did everything they could to not mention the USL. "Mulholland moved up to NASL with Minnesota following a very successful rookie season playing for third division club Wilmington Hammerheads. Mulholland led the club with nine goals and was second on the team with five assists. His performances for Wilmington earned him the league’s Rookie of the Year award as well as a nomination for the league's Player of the Year award." And what league might that be???? Oh ya, USL PRO! But I digress...

New boy Ryan Woods netted his first goal for the club as Kingstonian beat high flying Ryman Premier League title-chasing Lowestoft Town 2-0 at Kingsmeadow on Monday night. http://www.surreycomet.co.uk/sport/9502401.Woods_helps_Ks_down_Lowestoft/Ryman Premier League? That's the sponsor name of the Isthmian Premier League. The next step up from there is Conference South, then Conference, then League 2.
Oddly, I've been to Kingsmeadow, to see AFC Wimbledon play. They were in the same league at the time (05-06); now they're in League 2.

Ryman Premier League? It that like another fantasy camp? On the off chance that was more than a joke, it's actually the 7th tier in English football. I'll leave it to someone else to make the level play comparisons...

It's the "Premier Division" of the 7th division, not to be confused with the "Northern Premier League", which is the 8th division or something. I do think it's a great naming convention though, and I hope that soon every division will be referred to as a "Premier League" for consistency throughout the English pyramid.

For those who like to watch alumni live...
The playoffs for the MISL Central division are set. The Milwaukee Wave will play the Missouri Comets in a home and home series on March 9th and 11th. Milwaukee will host the match on the 11th.
Playing for the Wave will be Marco Terminisi and Jon Greenfield (Thunder alum). Playing for the Comets will be Leo Gibson (Thunder alum), Geison (Stars alum) Lucas Rodriguez and Cristiano (current Stars).
If anyone is interested, Joan and I have a guest room and a couple of couches available.
