Now we have to wait.. again. It looks like Harrisburg is a little iffy for this coming season, or maybe I'm reading more into the press release then there really is.

Yeah bummer. I didn't really think that their is an issue with Harrisburg, only where are they going to play (and more likely who is going to pay for the field to be repaired you would think that it would be covered by insurance or flood aid or something)

I have a feeling getting flood insurance for anything on that island is next to impossible, even for the a city the size of Harrisburg, since it floods fairly regularly. They COULD play ay HersheyPark stadium I guess or someting. There has to be other places around Harrisburg, even if its temporary.

The USL issued a statement saying that their schedule would not be released until the second week of January because of field conditions in Harrisburg. Can someone enlighten me? What do the field conditions have to do with the release of the schedule?

Their field was flooded completely, along with the baseball stadium next door and indeed all of City Island. Basically both the soccer stadium and the baseball stadium are not fit for use. Harrisburg (the CITY) is bankrupt and doesn't have the $$$ needed to fix either stadium.. or indeed the whole of City Island. The City Islanders are working on a couple of other places to play, but are hitting resistance. If the City Islanders can't find a place to play, they'll have to sit out the season which will cause the league to revamp its schedule.

Wow, I didn't know about that with Harrisburg either. Hope they can play!

Ok this mainly shows the baseball stadium, but you can see a bit of the field where the CI's play to the right, although it wasn't flooded yet in this pic, I guess eventually it ended up looking just like the baseball stadium next door. It's a shame, The City Islanders do A LOT with very limited resources, I really hope they can work something out with HersheyPark Stadium or Messiah College.
