I saw that BQ raised in issue in a tweet regarding a new badge for 2012. It is my understanding that a championship team in soccer wears a "star" on their badge for the season following a championship. It will be interesting how this is incorporated into the current design, if the Stars re-brand themselves, or have a special badge for only 2012. Toughts?

The conservative side of me says keep the existing badge and the "NSC" in the name. However, there is a flaming liberal side of me that thinks a re-brand would be kind of cool. I know I was always in support of the team being called "FC Minnesota." However, I think you could keep the "NSC" and have it stand for "Norstar (yeah, Norstar) Soccer Club."

PS: Can someone provide me with background on the championship "star" on badges? I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the topic.

Serie A is one star for every 10 championships. Also standard among many (long-standing) leagues. Reining champs get to wear the scudetto for the season.

Bundesliga appears to have a sliding scale for 3,5 10, and 20 championships.

NASL should be like MLS, and get one star per title. In MLS, the star appears the season after displaying the "scudetto".

Agreed. I have always liked the scudetto and Coppa Italia badges on Italian kits.

Yeah, no renaming talk. The team just got some buzz, mostly as the Minnesota Stars with or without the NSC. I don't think it would be a good idea to drop the part of the name with any sort of recognition.

As far as I know, the team will continue as the Minnesota Stars.
