It has just been reported in Qatar that David Beckham has signed the largest contract in football history, 77 virgins, 177 million goats, six chickens, + $22.50 in cash over a seven year deal to play as goalkeeper for Al Sadd the second place finishing team in Qatar in 2011.

This may, or may not be true...

A great MLS Cup game! cool

The LA Galaxy went 24 games straight unbeaten in the Home Depot Center and gained the 2011 MLS trophy in an exciting attacking game in front of 30,000 fans.

David Beckham
Landon Donovan
Robbie Keane
Omar Gonzalez
Juinho
AJ DeLaGarza
Mike Magee
Sean Franklin
Josh Saunders
Todd Dunivant
Adam Cristman

Beckham had a great season and was a great player in both directions. Quick decisions when going forward with precision thru passing. Great run of play crossing into dangerous areas. Great free kicks and goals from far out. Good solid strong middle third defending... I'm glad I got to see Beckham at his best this year. smile smile

Landon doing what we need him to do, score 20 goals in one of his best seasons to date.

A great addition at the end of the season Robbie Keane

The collective defense playing as a unit and making few mistakes wining 13 games by only one goal.

A coach who knows how to get the best out of his players, Bruce Arena. An assistant how knows how to be the team player, Dave Sarachan.

What more can one say about this MLS season? I love my american soccer leagues! We have nowhere to go but, up up and away.

Thank You LA Galaxy for a great 16th MLS season...

grin grin grin

I thought that the match was very entertaining. LA was clearly the better team, but Houston defended well and played a good second 45 minutes. Donovan's goal was world-class and the match for the most part was played well by both teams. I loved Beckham's tackle. I would love to see Beckham back next year, but think MLS is in a better position now than when he first arrived in the US.

I do wish the MLS would consider promtion/relegation. The last thing they need is another team in NY.

Ya, I was glad Houston stepped it up a bit in the second half. The better team won, no doubt.

I am in agreement, I thought the MLS has a real solid season. MLS has now surpassed NBA in avg. attendance. It can no longer be ignored.

The relegation/promotion discussion will continue but I cannot see it happening for awhile, but I am certainly not opposed to it when it is deemed viable. I think it would maked for some seriously interesting games all year.

Wherever the 20th may go, I think once they get it and continue to be stronger, it may make for some interesting discussion in about 5-10 yrs. All in all, we can't complain. We went from having only indoor soccer from mid 80's to 96' and now we have a solid league, tv contracts (NBC) and several big name players. Are we EPL, Bundelsiga, Primera? No, but Serie A wasn't built in a day.

Keep up the good work MLS/Garber!

30,000+ at the MLS final. You have to love it. However, I think that the MLS is going to run into trouble if a team like Colorado gets hot and hosts the finals. It gets cold out there this time of year. I would also never go to Montreal.

I guess its all a calculated risk. Just like the All-Star game - it is always subject to change.

I don't think you would have to worry about Montreal pulling a Supporters'...they could not make the playoffs in D2, but I digress. Your point about a cold weather city is noted.

I actually think above all, it will make one heck of a race for the Shield, which will put all the more emphasis on the regular season. I think its an interesting move.

So what you're saying Boy of soccer is that if a team like Toronto got the final game and it was a wet cold day people might not show up?

What if Toronto was in the game this time?

What I am saying is I want to go someplace fun for a big game. If I was not in the middle of my mid-life crisis, I would have gone to the MLS Cup. The reason why I would have gone--it was in LA. Yeah, it rained, but at least it was somewhat warm.

On the other hand, there is no way in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks I would go to a MLS Cup final in some place where it is cold, or there is the potential for snow.

It is true that David Beckham is now in Paris to talk to the new owners of PSG about playing in Qatar for Al Sadd next year. Maybe?

Beckham left America because he could not handle the high level of play in the MLS. Rumor has it he left LAX waving a white flag!
