I saw that the magicJack got kicked out of the WPS last night, which leaves the league with five teams. I know that there has been a lot of tension over the last several months between the league and the magicJack over a number of issues. However, it makes me wonder what is really going on with the league and how it can survive with only five teams.

In my opinion, in order for the US to become that soccer powerhouse we all want it to be, we really need a viable professional league for women. When players like Wambach and Solo become unemployed (I think this is the second time something like this has happened to Solo), it gives a bad vibe to great soccer players to either stay in America and play, and also to attract top women from other countries.

This development is not good for soccer in the US!

magicJack was a joke to be honest. Playing in a 1500ish capacity park is not "major league" no matter how you spin it. Not that they needed the 1500 seats, but still. The only way a womens pro league is going to make it is to start regional and gradually expand outward.

I wish more people would get out and support womens soccer in the US. I took Daughter #2 out to the University of MN women's match last night and had a great time. Sadly, there were only 700 fans at the match and there were no other "conflicts" on the MN sports calendar. (I would admit that part of the problem in getting fans to these matches is the stadium location/parking.)
