GENEVA (AP) -Three investigative journalists who specialize in corruption allegations involving FIFA have declined invitations to take part in Sepp Blatter's reform program.

Jens Weinreich, Andrew Jennings and Jean-Francois Tanda say the process is designed to protect Blatter rather than genuinely unearth wrongdoing and change football's scandal-plagued world governing body.

FIFA rejects Warner's claims over $1 WCup TV deals

ZURICH (AP) -Disgraced former FIFA vice president Jack Warner peddled "inaccuracies and falsehoods'' when he claimed last month that he got World Cup television rights for $1 in exchange for supporting Sepp Blatter's presidential campaigns, football's world governing body said Friday.

"Such rights were ceded in order to provide an additional source of revenue for football development in the CFU (Caribbean Football Union),'' FIFA said in a statement. "This had nothing to do with the 1998 or 2002 election campaigns, or with any other election campaign.

"To imply the contrary is completely false,'' FIFA said.
...........................................................................................................................

And it only took FIFA a full week to reject that claim made by Jack... Humm?? whistle

BULLSHIT!

"Development Fund" would be a cover for influence payments within the family.
What "development" did it produce? Any accountability recorded by FIFA on those funds and how they were used?

FIFA will now go down as one of the most corrupt international sports organizations on the face of this planet... A complete disgrace to all of us involved in this sport. Enough is enough!

We can't just stand by and watch our sport be ruined more...

BLATTER AND ALL HIS "FAMILY" MUST GO NOW!

Even the people from his own canton don't like him, or respect him anymore...

But, I guess that's what eventually happens when you play too many games and cry wolf too many times. The end is now near... smirk

...a fourth journalist was also invited, but declined, to cooperate with FIFA's Independent Governance Committee.

In a statement, Thomas Kistner of the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung cited many of the same points made by his three colleagues and said he could "see no responsibility to take an active part in a process originally initiated and paid for by FIFA."

FIFA Development Partners Update

"A lot of people think of FIFA as a wealthy organisation. But it’s nowhere near as wealthy as the gambling organisations and bookmakers of the world who are feeding off football and from whom FIFA gets no benefit..."

"An Italian investigation into match-fixing in that country is now over a year old, and up to two billion euros has been identified as being the likely criminal income to two major criminal organisations, the Camorra and the Mafia. And remember, this is digital money. So there is no border transfer and no risk associated with importation, product problems or massive amounts of people you have to corrupt. So, up until now it has been low risk and high profits for them".

"The infiltration of serious criminals into our associations and football generally is the most pressing issue."

"What we're doing now is developing sources both in criminal organisations and football that will advise us."

"The greatest enemy is naivety, in that people think, ‘This is the wonderful game, who would try to take advantage of this beautiful game?’ Well, the answer is that there are lots of ways to take advantage, and one of them is through match-fixing".

-Fifa's security head, Mr Chris Eaton,

Taken out of context these are really funny comments to read. blush

The not so funny part

-There are up to 50 active national investigations - one quarter of FIFA’s member associations.

-There are players who’ve been victims, players I’ve spoken to, who’ve played one game for their nation, been told by their team-mates to fix this match, and having resisted this, they’ve never played for their country again.

-The victims are the players, the coaches and administrators, when they’re corrupted in a sport built on teamship and fair play. When you compromise those high ideals, shame quickly follows. We must give them both support and protection.

Lets not forget about one more victim of FIFA/team corruption

The fans who once believed in this sport!

Sepp Blatter did his best to hide the tensions at the heart of Fifa during the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday night, but there are increasing signs that the president will struggle to see out his full term to 2015, and could be forced out by the end of the year.

Johansson feels FIFA's public reputation was now tarnished by corruption claims and called for an independent investigation into the allegations - including former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner's claim that Blatter allowed him to pay just one dollar for World Cup TV rights.

As for Warner's claims about buying TV rights for one dollar, Johansson said: "We need to investigate Warner's comments for the reputation of football...

"Mr Warner made us aware of really what's happened by telling us about it. Then if he's telling a lie that should be proved. We will see."

Toronto lawyer James Klotz has been appointed to the FIFA Independent Governance Committee, set up by world soccer’s governing body in response to a series of scandals and allegations of corruption.

Klotz has been involved in anti-corruption law for almost two decades, leading calls for the criminalization of the bribery of foreign officials. He is president of Transparency International Canada, but will not be representing the group in his work on the FIFA panel, since TI decided to decline an appointment.
