FIFA official Chuck Blazer from New York, the ‘Mr Clean’ who turned whistleblower and forced his colleague Jack Warner out of the game, secretly trousered nearly $2million in “commissions” from football marketing deals last year.

The previous year was even more lucrative for Mr Blazer. He took $2,622,714 in 2009 and over the last five years has paid himself $9.6 million in bonuses on top of his pay as general secretary of CONCACAF

BFA Vice President Fred Lunn’s photo from a Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) regional session in Trinidad of money and the name of Bahamas on a brown envelope, was the item that caused the explosion.

Lunn’s sense of decency led to his action and reportedly, he subsequently called BFA Chief Anton Sealey who was at a FIFA meeting in Zurich. The directive from Sealey was to stay clear of the situation, have nothing to do with the money.

FIFA executive Mohamed bin Hammam promised a strong defense at his bribery hearing on Friday, when he seeks to provide "convincing grounds" of his innocence in a scandal that has tarnished the reputation of soccer's world governing body.

The ethics panel said, in a leaked report, that it has "compelling" evidence of a bribery conspiracy involving bin Hammam and his former FIFA executive committee colleague Jack Warner. FIFA ended its legal pursuit of Warner last month when the Trinidad and Tobago government minister resigned all soccer duties.

FIFA's ethics panel can call for new investigations... after it decides on bin Hammam's case.

His only real defense is that bribery was common place for all FIFA events and political votes which should weigh heavily in on the suspicions of his methods used to win the 2022 bid. He will be walking a very fine tightrope of saying it was a common practice used by many other people but then also not connecting that practice and the methods to the 2022 bid. His lawyers better be very good or something might just slip out.

"The leaking of confidential information by individuals to the media, before the entire story had been told in a manner that is fair to all sides, was done for their own purposes and personal agendas," said the Asian Football Confederation chief.

He added there were clear attempts to besmirch his name and quoted comments by FIFA officials that there was "compelling evidence Bin Hammam had paid money" to specific parties and that "Bin Hammam will be banned for life" as examples.

Yes, the leaking of confidential information to the press is a method that is not ethical within an organization that has methods and procedures to discipline it's own members.

I'm starting to think I'm wrong and Mohamad was the right guy after all, I don't say that often but the leaked info to the press when they clearly have methods and procedures to discipline people kinda shows the methods that may have been just standard practice at FIFA (manipulation of facts and their controlled release to the press for their own benefit). Methods that people just have to adjust to so that they can fit into the "family". I know one thing, no matter what happens Sepp should be show the door out because he was the person in charge of all this while it was clearly going on under his nose.
