It does kind of surprise me, they didn't seem that bad on the field.. they're much more disorganised on the administrative stuff then they are on the game side of things

I'm gonna say it and I'm not taking it back--
The above statements have pretty much convinced me that Peterson is about two vowels short of even beginning to having a "clue".

Unrealistic ambition or arrogance? Either way, not a great flag to be flying for an expansion club.

Harrisburg is solid. Does he know of the club's recent history. They have some guys who can play. With more pro experience than a lot of guys signed by FCNY.

Pittsburgh has some guys who can play.

Hey Mr. Peterson: What do the above letters spell???

yeah not a good sign. The Chelsea/Man City syndrome.. just because you pay the most money, have some of the better talent doesn't mean you have the best team.. to paraphrase Yogi Berra 50% of the game is 99% chemistry. Harrisburg might not have the most talented team, but they've all played together for a good while now.. as for New Yawk.. they're an expansion team plain and simple. (One that needs smarter financial peeps from the sound of things!

As I posted elsewhere, the FCNY coach resigns after going to the fleabags and seeing waffle....

Or is that another conspiracy theory ?

Looks like a new logo/shield is not the only new thing this club needs.

I know several of the FCNY folks visited Charleston a couple times last year checking us out in preparation for starting up. I have to believe they also visited some other clubs around the league. Seems like they were doing (at least some of) the right things ahead of time to make sure they were prepared and no big surprises would bite them. Too bad.

As for salary vs performance, all you have to look at is the history of Charlotte. I don't know any specific salary numbers for any team, not even the Battery's, but, I'm guessing that historically, Charlotte would have to be near the bottom of the pile in wages paid....and until this year, they were 1 of the top performing, most consistant non-MLS teams in the US, regardless of division.

New York is the only team is the league that doesn't have a host hotel deal. They have "suggested" hotels, but I know one team looked at all four then decided to stay halfway down to Philly because of the level of crappiness. As of a couple of weeks ago the Kickers still didn't know where they'd be staying for the game on June 12th. These things are all usually done MONTHS in advance. New York just doesn't have the administrative side of things in place yet.

I'll have to ask, we haven't had a home game since then, except a reserves game.

JBG... I don't think they've discovered that little trick yet. although when we go up there on the 12th, we'll find out I'm sure. From what I've read and seen the business side of the team seems to be run out of one ladies basement or something

We're fortunate that we have a division 1 college in town that just happens to have a sports management degree program. We get several students every season and ride them like rented mules......who else you gonna get to wear a big, heavy, stinking mascot costume in the south in 90 degree heat.....

Seriously FC New York.. TSA Pat downs and wandings to get into a USL Pro game.. that cost $25/ticket?? really? really really??.. Big goombas standing on the field at halftime and after the game making sure noone looks or speaks at a player.. come on guys get over yourselves already! OK the security isn't really FC New York's.. its St. Johns U and I'm sure a big chunk of the $25 goes to paying for it all.. but theres no way they can survive with that crap.. attendance was announced as 479, but Richmond had about 200 friends and family there.. most comp'd. FCNY needs to get out of St. Johns ASAP.. seriously.

In a shocking development FCNY announced disgraced Congressman Weiner will be ensuring nothing gets out of hand at future home games.....

I haven't been out to an FCNY game (yet) but the desciption here has me doubting if I ever will!

(1) $25 Ticket - really, are you serious? Who do they think they are? Those prices are set by the club (not St. John's). It's their own fault if they signed a bad rental deal but don't take it out on your fan base.

They are competing for the ever-shrinking "entertainment dollar". 3rd Division soccer here in the USA doesn't warrant that kind of ticket price. I don't care who or where you are - it's just bad business.

(2) What do you think the real attendance number was? There's no way that "200" Kicker fans could all be "comped" (teams don't get/give THAT many tickets out to opponents) so some people had to pay something...BTW - do they offer various ticket price options at the gate?

(3) Could you tell if the "security" was St. John's staff or an outside firm? Either way, I'm pretty sure that the club has to pay for them. About how many were there? (NYC area security tend to be a bit "full of themselves") Either way, they still get their directions from the club as to where to post and how to handle various situations.

It all comes back to the team in question....

I think teams get 50 comp tix, but there were more Richmond fans there then that. The real number at the game was maybe 350 to 400 total, FCNY used the one side of the stadium and only one end. I don't know how much all the tickets are, mine was a face value of $25. (I was comped thankfully), and I was sitting about 35 yards out from goal.. not on the end, but definitely not center seats either. They may charge less for seats behind the goal and towards the ends and more for center seats, I truly don't know. The security was all St. Johns. From the wandings and securitate pat downs to the the guys that came out and stood on the pitch at halftime and after the game to the game to make sure nobody "invaded". They all had on St.Johns suits and ties. The ushers all wore St. Johns shirts also. I'd love to see FCNY "make it".. but there is no way that they're going to with those prices and that level of (in)security.

On the positive side of things, we were told to expect a lot of disorganization in regards to the comp tix and and such, but there wasn't any at all (unlike Harrisburg), that I could see. Everything went smoothly. Even parking was free.

Overall it was a good experience, a little bland with no mascots, no halftime "entertainment" or anything.. which is OK for me because I'm there to watch the game, but for kids and casual fans.. i can see where they'd get quite bored pretty easily.

Oh forgot to mention, there were 6 or 8 of the BIG guys in suits that did the bag checking wandings, friskings etc and came on to the field, plus every section, at least in the center, had an usher

Robbing flippers.. it only cost $36 to get into Fratton Park in the Championship last season, and the standard there is going to be a lot higher than the USL Pro league.
