The North American Soccer League (“NASL”) is proud to announce the admission of a new member team based in San Antonio, Texas, which will begin playing in 2012. The expansion team was organized by native San Antonian Gordon Hartman, who recently developed the 14-field STAR (South Texas Area Regional) Soccer Complex and neighboring Morgan’s Wonderland, the world's first-ultra accessible family fun park designed specifically for children and adults with special needs and the entire community to enjoy.

Spurs Group Eyes Alamo Stadium
By Lindsay Kastner, San Antonio Express News

Spurs Sports & Entertainment Vice President Leo Gomez said Thursday the company will propose bringing a United Soccer Leagues franchise to Alamo Stadium to play 12 to 15 home games, eventually developing it into a Major League Soccer team.

“We would work to grow the market and get to that point sooner rather than later,” Gomez said.

The proposal would mean keeping the stadium's football field but doing away with the eight-lane track to make room for the pro soccer field.

The San Antonio Independent School District, which owns the stadium and the adjacent Convocation Center, begins soliciting partnership concepts for the facilities today

Help Choose The San Antonio Scorpions Jersey

Scorpions fans helped the newest NASL team choose a team name and menacing-looking logo, and now we invite everyone to help us choose one of three Scorpions jersey designs. The Scorpions have collaborated with Nike Inc., recently announced as one of the team's major sponsors, on coming up with three designs in team colors of black, red and gold. You can vote here from now until Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Ballots also can be found in editions of the San Antonio Express-News.

After all the votes are tallied, the winning jersey will be unveiled in June. Just like the "Select Our Logo Design" contest, a voter chosen at random will be awarded four tickets to a Scorpions home game and a package of team gear including a new jersey.

I like the third design. There seems to be a lot of excitement with this franchise. Hopefully they can keep things moving forward in a positive direction.

All 3 are pretty nice but I will concur with SB - the third one is pretty cool!

Fans Help Select Jersey Design

ANTONIO – Mexican soccer legend Jorge Campos today unveiled the jersey selected by a vote of San Antonio Scorpions FC fans.

The community's new pro soccer team took another step forward toward North American Soccer League (NASL) competition next spring.

More than 3,000 fans voted either online or by way of a printed ballot in the San Antonio Express-News and chose a predominantly black jersey with horizontal stripes bearing the team's menacing-looking scorpion logo. Nike USA Inc., which became a major Scorpions sponsor in January, presented three jersey designs, but fans had the final say. Those who would like to purchase Scorpions jerseys can do so online at www.SanAntonioScorpions.com.
