News release says the USL restructures and will now be called USL Pro. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in the line of merging, it sounds like they are saying that USSFD2 will merge with USLD2? Top line' "Designed to help ensure this long-term stability of professional soccer in North America, United Soccer Leagues announced the merger of the First and Second Divisions into a single leaue prosperity for 2011-USL Pro.

I don't think NASL has any idea of merging with USL. Not to say you won't see a current USSF D2 team move to the new league(Right now Rochester is weighing their options) to save money but Im sure the press release only concerned the organization of USL1 and USL2.

Actually, the press release that I read said "announced the merger of its First and Second Divisions". Small difference, I know (and I'm not picking on you), but in this case a big difference in meaning Remember that even though they "merged" as USSF for one year to play that both USL1 and NASL still existed as seperate entities.

Thanks to you both and I did not think you were, Fred. What is confusing is the D1 & 2, since USSFD2 is officially level 2 and USLD2 is Level 3 and you are right, Mikey. I don't think NASL (USSDD2, whatever they are called) would be interested in USL. USLD2 will be expanding next year anyway.

USLD2 will be expanding next year anyway. Except they won't, as USLD2 will no longer exist. I agree about all this division stuff being confusing. Though what got me really confused this year was the whole USSF set up - for example Tampa is in the NASL league but played in the USL conference of the USSF. I think this is how it currently stands? 2010: D1 - MLS D2 - USSF D3 - USL2 Unsanctioned: USL1 NASL 2011 (as of 09/08/10) D1 - MLS D2 - none D3 - USL Pro Unsanctioned: NASL (as of right now, does not have enough teams to qualify)

I agree, I don't know Tampa ended up in USL Division, just like I don't know the Rowdies and their intrastate rivals Miami, could end up in different divisions! But such as the sports world I guess(senseless).
So now the 'Hounds and our rivals will now have to face Rochester, Tampa Bay and those teams in 2011?

So now the 'Hounds and our rivals will now have to face Rochester, Tampa Bay and those teams in 2011? As of right now, no, because both Rotchester and Tampa Bay are members of NASL. If either/both/any teams drop from that league and join/rejoin then the answer is yes. Though depending on how many teams the USL end up with, all teams might not have to play each other in regular season games. But I would guess that right now there is a really good chance that they will still do so.
