I am not certain what a PRO Leauge is, but I am sure it is super exciting.

"2011 debut of USL PRO, which will be governed by team owners and present the highest level of competition in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean outside of Major League Soccer (MLS)"

Sounded like USSF Div 2 to me but USSF Div 2 in 2012 maybe...? - It would make sense to delay the Application at first IMO & USSF could always APPOINT them as Div 2 if they chose to - It;s not like the remaining NASL USSF Div 2 Teams (IF their are ANY in 2011) are really gonna be any better than the Div 3's anyway ~!

got an email from USL HQ saying they would not be applying for D2 status, and will run it like USL2 was run this year the new USSF standards for D2 is too strict for many teams,( $20 million primary owner being a big one1

Given the new USSF guidelines for USSF Div 2 the USL really did'nt have a tough decision here at all IMO ~! - It was already made for the Leauge & the Owners - When the true Powers That Be hand you no choice it aint REALLY a decision that's needed.. just a plan & this plan should work - I can't WAIT to see the NASL's "plan".

This is pretty much what I expected USL had to do, and I think this may kill NASL2 which would mean no Division 2 next year. I would think this league, with it's lower financial committment and travel costs with it's regional setup, would be a more attractive options for some of the less stable NASL2/USL1 teams.

The USSF's new standards were basically a put-up or shut-up to the NASL2 group, and I think they won't be able to commit 8 teams to those standards.

NASL is mostly mirth-inducing at this point, but the above assertion strikes me as a distinction without a difference. Was it not a put-up or shut-up to USL2 teams as well? Isn't USL PRO an admission that USL does not have 8 teams that meet those standards?

Well, that is a valid point, for sure. They (the USL) were also unable to satisfy those new standards at this point in time.

Their strength is that they have the ability to restructure and survive quite nicely when all is said and done.
