Thanks for the kind words Buck. I am encouraged by the improvement that team is showing in the last 10 days or so.

I think that they have a very good chance of getting a point in Rochester tomorrow night. I am really looking forward to the guy's first home game in about a month when they face the Portland Timbers on Saturday.

Pitiful effort by the dimly lited ownership in Baltimore as the way it turns out they succeeded in not only screwing up their Franchise but USSF Div 1 & Div 2 as well - A fiasco TRIFECTA ~!

I find it touching that it is such a big bag of joy for you to have dominated in a league lower than you should be in... how cute.

You almost seem surprised to see your team in the final this first year in USSF Div 3? smirk

Charleston to Vancouver -- 2,477 miles
Charleston to Portland -- 2,418 miles
Charleston to Minneapolis -- 1,103 miles
Charleston to Austin -- 1,061 miles

Charleston to USL D2 city (average) -- 414 miles

If YOU had to write the checks, wouldn't YOU think twice about D2 vs. D3?

Regardless of who is writing the checks and which division a club plays in, this country is gigantic and this is always going to a nearly insurmountable problem for sub-MLS teams. What is seen as an arduous journey in Europe is super happy fun time compared to the average east to west coast jaunt here. It is about 1,400 miles from Milan to Moscow, here another 1,000 miles will get Charleston to their destination on the west coast. If you are driving, even 400 miles is a pain in the ass.

If I was writing the checks for a pro soccer team I was not forced to buy, then I'd be used to writing checks for all kinds of other expenses with all my other business dealings beside my very predictable soccer team's travel expense. And I would have known where they were going to travel to before I decided to buy the team, so it would not be all that big of a surprise, now would it? Some people in business call that kinda stuff planning.

OMG what would happen if the owner went out to eat at a place like Manny's Stake House in downtown Mpls and saw that the stakes are over $95. a plate (1/4 of the cost to fly to Miami), would he insist that all stake houses become more regionalized so that he could save money...? What if he decided to buy a bottle of good wine with that dinner? Why does wine have to come all the way from France? We could make wine right here in Minnesota.

Awahh poor little pro soccer teams that have to do what every other pro sport team in america does... Awahhh I feel so sorry for those little kids who show up for work 1.5 hours a day. Awahh?

Do you have any idea how much the average business traveler that does business in China travels in miles each month?

Wake up... America has been a big country for over 220 years. At least they don't travel by horse anymore.

You are self-employed correct? Predictable? You know what is predictable? Teams running out of capital and ceasing operations at the end of every season. When clubs have small operating budgets and people suggest that addressing one of the largest costs might be a good idea you indicate that America has been a big country for over 220 years and at least we don't travel by horse anymore. Well, there you go. Problem solved.

Uh huh. I assume you mean steaks, and if NSC was flying one person to Miami this analogy would be directly applicable.

Do you ever go out? Restaurants buying local in relatively commonplace. I can recommend Cafe Twenty-Eight in Linden Hills specifically. And wine production is highly dependent on climate and region, so please, don't be a dork.

I genuinely enjoy it when you make arguments that crumble after one Google search. Every pro sport team? Like the Rochester Red Wings? They travel all the way to Syracuse and Buffalo and Toledo, etc. Not a trip to Puerto Rico or Vancouver in there anywhere. Weird. One could almost call their league regional. And I'll guess and say that the budget of the average NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL team is slightly larger than that of a NASL team.

Yes, I do. Does he take 20 people with him and play in a soccer match that he is expected to win when he arrives? If he does, your analogy is directly applicable.

I'll be out of town for a considerable length of time, so you can swing away without fear of fact checking.
