The last time I drove to Chicago I got pulled over for going 95 in a 65 zone--much cheaper had I flown. I see KO is at 7pm. How much do tickets typically cost?

We'll see how many of the 1st MN Vols we can get together ... group rate tickets can save some $$, but no idea (yet) how much they will cost.

Yep, Fire vs Crew on the 8th. I know last time you guys went to Chicago you guys stayed in the Chinatown hotel. Any feedback on that. Its the only remotely reasonably priced hotel near downtown. If that place was no good I will probably stay out by Midway for the easy bus access to Toyota Park and the train access to downtown/Soldier Field.

It wasn't great, but not horrible either. I'd consider somewhere else personally. Not that China Town was bad. The hotel was just a little strange and there seemed to be some mix up in prices if I recall. It wasn't as cheap as we originally thought it was.

I thought about this some more and I am 100% in for Fire and the US/Poland match. All I need to do is get approval from my wife.

Just a thought, but spend the first night someone out near Toyota Park, and then the second night downtown. When I go to Chicago I stay at the DT Hilton on the Magnificant Mile across from the Hancock Building. Yeah, it is a little pricy, but that way you are close to Rush + Division--and a ton of great bars. Too bad the Cubs baseball season will be over with by then.

last time we went to chi for a game, i just pricelined a hotel. $100 a nite got us a pretty nice room in the palmer house hilton downtown. if you can find a few people to share with, its a totally rad deal. if i were doing it again, id even shoot for $80 a nite, just to see.

I think the Chicago Marathon is the same weekend. I would book a room soon--if I could go!

I've got referee duty that Saturday ... might consider getting out of it ... I think the consensus was that the Chinatown Hotel was convenient, but ...

I'd consider coordinating the group buy from US Soccer (again), we had over 50 people for the USA vs Honduras game last year.

I concur that tickets should be purchased ASAP, as the Chicagoland Poles will be gobbling up the tickets ... another 'away' game for the USA in their home town.

I've always just purchased tickets on my own for these games. What's the best way to get tickets so I can join the Minnesota contingent?

I'll have to see if I can pull this off or not. I'd like to think so, but will have to see for sure.

As Soccer Boy pointed out, the Chicago Marathon is on Sunday morning and is a huge event, so booking a room as soon as you can is probably a good idea. I personally never had a problem with the Chinatown place. About what you'd expect for the price, quality wise, and the location is probably as close as you can get to Soldier Field without spending a lot more. It's not convenient to Toyota Park though, for those who are planning to do both matches.

Just don't let Charlie anywhere near the miniature Polish Flags!

Best way is to watch the boards. We always sit in the supporters section. Sam's Army/American Outlaws. If you've never done that then you're in for a treat.

Sadly, I cannot go as well. I have been reminded that I am out in Washington, DC the week before this event. I will be at the Sweetwater!

Pre-sale of tickets thru US Soccer begins on Wednesday, Aug. 25, and ends on Fri Aug 27.

U.S. Organized Supporters Section
If you wish to be in the standing section where our most-spirited fans wear red, chant and sing in unison in support of the U.S. Men's National Team, .... These seats are located in the Endline section and are priced at $25. The deadline to purchase these tickets is Friday, August 27 at 5 p.m. CT.

In addition, AO members can purchase their tickets thru that organization.

While I do NOT plan to go, I would be willing to coordinate group ticket purchases for both the Chicago Fire game on Friday and the USA-Poland game on Saturday.

I do NOT want to coordinate the hotels for this trip.

Whether you are part of ANY suppoorters group or not, I hope that we can all band together under the banner of the 1st Minnesota Volunteers.

Send me an email if you would like to purchase tickets with the group. Lightning_Striker [at] blueskysoccer.com

Fire Ticket (will find out cost/availability thru Section 8 Chicago)
USA-Poland: $26. (includes $1. for group handling

I'm saving my money for MLS Cup. I'm sure it would be fun but truth be told its sort of a meaningless game. As someone pointed out on Saturday evening, in a year from now we will be planning our trips for the next cycle of qualifiers.

Only two people have responded as of this AM, so I am inclined to arrange for their tickets, but go no further in organizing the road trip.

Instead: we'll be sure to have a massive watch party at the Sweety.

So let's be sure to get the word out to all the fanatico in MSP to join us no matter what group you may or may not associate with.

I'm at this point planning to go, so I offered to take over the organization of this trip from LS. If you're interested in going, drop me an e-mail if you have my address, or find me on FB or some such. If you don't know how else to contact me, drop me a message on here.

Looks like sadly I am out for this. But I highly encourage anyone who can make it to do so. It's not a qualifier obviously, but given the location and opponent, should have a really good atmosphere.

I won't be going to Chicago for the US game bc I'll likely be there the weekend before for the United/Fire game. That and I was at soldier field last year for the US/Honduras qualifier and I know that atmosphere can't be beat, haha. Anyway, will keep an eye out for info on a viewing party in town though!!
