I just finished reading the USL year end honors. With due respect for Charleston and Richmond, I think the 'Hounds have some players who deserve a mention. And when it comes to Coach of the Year(pardon me if I sound a little bias) but I think Justin Evans deserves the honor. Charleston and Richmond have been at the top for a while, but the 'Hounds are returning to post-season. Don't make this a two-team race when it's actually 3! The 'Hounds deserve some recognition too!

Clearly they don't or they would have gotten the nod. How far a distant 3rd did the fleabags finish in comparison to the top 2 ?

While I understand where you are coming from, the honors handed out today were earned by the players. If Pittsburg had a player that had scored more goals than Neagle he would have won the Goal Scoring Champion. If your goalie had a better gaa than Pascale, he would have won. Same thing goes for the assist champion and the overall Scoring Champion. In other words, these awards were based strictly on statistics.
There's still plenty of honors left for your fleabags to win or at the very least be nominated for. My guess is that you will see them get some recognition then.

It just seems that only Richmond and Charleston get reconized as far as the USLD2. I think it's time a new team comes to light. With due respect to the Kickers and Battery, the 'Hounds are riding momentum and I hope they take it all the way, it's our time to get the title! There should be an award for the most improved team, and if there is not, I'll really smell something suspicious(by the way, they are not the flea bags, they are the RIVERHOUNDS-Get used to it!)!

these are the STATISTICAL honors.. the judgemental honors will be announced a week from Friday, I expect a near perfect Charleston sweep except in Coach of the Year

There should be an award for the most improved team, and if there is not, I'll really smell something suspicious There has never been an award like that before. Why should they create one this year just because the fleabags suddenly had a better team than they have in the past? Nothing suspicious there at all. (by the way, they are not the flea bags, they are the RIVERHOUNDS-Get used to it!)! They'll ALWAYS be the Fleabags, just like we are commonly called the Knickers and Charleston the Bunnies, etc. Get used to it!

They ARE the Fleabags, just as there are the **itty Islanders, Butterflies, Knickers, Bladdery, and Evils.. maybe YOU should adjust... I know I know I suggest the impossible sometimes.

Well, if the 'Hounds maintain their unbeaten momentum, the Knickers will have to enjoy their last game on Sat.

And if the Kickers maintain their unbeaten streak, then the Fleabags of (arm)Pittsburg will have to enjoy their last game on Sat.
(Both teams are riding 4-game unbeaten streaks. We haven't lost since losing to the Fleabags up there; you haven't lost since losing to the Kickers down here)

these are the STATISTICAL honors.. the judgemental honors will be announced a week from Friday, I expect a near perfect Charleston sweep except in Coach of the Year Ronnie could very possibly win Goaltender of the Year since he finished first in 3 categories (Wins, Shutouts, GAA) The only ones he didn't finish first in were saves and goals allowed. Kickers still placed (tied for) first in the last category though (Chase). Gut feeling tells me that if he doesn't win it, then Gilstrap will. I'm personally hoping Bobby gets a nomination for Rookie of the Year; though I really don't expect him to win. But just being nominated is still pretty darn cool too IMO

Not sure how you can have so many awards for a 6 team division.

I got to go with DS on this...serious discussion of individual awards with a 3rd division league of 6 teams? At least the NHL prior to 1967 had major league talent.
KC...how can you not expect some smackdown for proposing 'most improved team' for the 'Hounds...their record was 7-5-8, not horrible, but they only made the playoffs because they were slightly better than .500...of course if the other minor league team in this town (the uhemm, Pirates) did, they would rock the entire sports world.

USL2 team banter at its finest... Although I agree the overall premise of this thread (D2 'honors')is ridiculous, please understand how most of the 'banter' on USL discussions reads to those outside the Minnesota area... 1 - NSC starting 11 predictions for most games 2 - Attendance problems for NSC 3 - Soccer City in Minnesota is substandard 4 - Edson Buddle is a world class forward (Bob Bradley is an idiot rants) 5 - NSC beer garden 6 - Status of NSC future No dissing the NSC folks, you guys are obviously faithful supporters, just pointing out that we are allowed to 'banter' too! If that's too hard to accept, just ask Allison or Dan to change the site to NSC Discussions.

But borrowing the old addage "but that's how it's always been done*" it also makes sense for the USL to continue doing so again this season to try and make the league not look as screwed up as it is. *of course this can always lead to the debate on how stupid it was in the past, even with more teams, to have so many different awards.

Futbol49, I agree that having a 6-team league does seem rediculous, but when it comes to the 'Hounds, I'm glad that we still have them and we(Pgh area) have team to cheer on! Without the 'Hounds, I may not be doing any promoting. The bright spot for the league is we get more teams next season, especially Dayton! But I'm taking things as priority and I'm concentrating on Saturday! I respect the Kickers organization for what they have accomplished overall. But this year I've been reading that they have not been playing the way they should and the 'Hounds should take advantage of that(imo). If we('Hounds) don't, then we've not played the way we are capable of. This will be do or die for both teams. I don't know why I've not seen anything about this on the SA website.

just pointing out that we are allowed to 'banter' too! And I was having fun reading about something other than NSC just like you were. I wish the fans of more teams used this site...

Now that would be sad! The SA was started as a support grooup for the 'Hounds. If they stopped caring then they would not be doing their jobs(imo).
