Great.
Make sure you set your DVR for the Monday highlight show!
Last week the season got off to a humdinger of a start. Highlighted by the "Defenseless Showdown" of Melbourne Victory vs. Sydney FC (a redux of last years championship). It was a 3-3 tie in Sydney!
Gotta love the A-League.

I was happy to see Wellington get a point off the cave-dwelling mouth-breathers of Gold Coast United. Seriously, a 3-3 draw seems to be a common occurrence down under.

Any chance we can have watch parties at the Sweety? I do not have Fox Soccer at home. Good times = drink beer, watch soccer, hang out with good people.
I must admit, I am shocked that no one has taken the Perth Glory yet! They routinely sell-out there stadium and have an amazingly crappy goalie. Did I mention Robbie Fowler now players for them? This can only mean one thing! The product on the West Coast is amazing, and cheaper as it doesn't need to transverse the outback!

I would pick up the lost and lonely Perth Glory, but I really don't like Robbie Fowler. I just can't do it. So, in homage to my previous life in Seattle, I have chosen the Central Coast Mariners. That, and if KJ likes them, they must be good. ;->

Performance of note for Round2: Shane Schmeltz put away two goals on the Phoenix. Not surprising that he was booed on every touch in his native New Zealand.
Afterall, the World Cup ended in the summer.

When is this highlight show? I just ordered FSC today. I hadn't checked the price on Comcast for a while, but it is actually reasonable now. No more watching 160x160 pixel streams on my laptop!
I am paying way too much for cable. I would never have had it, but my wife can't life without it. Its only 7 bucks a month to add a channel I actually want, so I gave it a try. I would love to put all my cable money into my 2014 account, but my wife is the breadwinner, so she wins the argument.

Great 1-0 vicotry by the Brisbane Roar today against Sydney FC. I missed the entire match, but I am sure it was exciting! I can hardly wait for what will be an exciting match Friday at 5am vs. the Wellington Phoenix! Come on you Roar!

A) holy crap the refereeing in the A-league is worse than ussf2. B) The Phoenix showed some amazing soccer this week. They are my pick as it currently stands. C) The Glory will be tough to beat, but the real amazing thing has to be the huge crowds they are drawing. I guess winning helps.

I believe they are still playing, for better or worse. Worse, as far I could see watching a bit of Sydney v Perth a couple weeks ago. Robbie Fowler was the best player on the pitch. And people give MLS shite.

I have been quiet about this, but that is mostly because your punk ass didn't show up at Grumpy's NE when I was in town for a North Queensland Fury, but you will have a chance to redeem yourself in December!
Looking ass.

I get Facebook updates from the Melbourne Victory who are busy sucking it up in the middle of the table. Typical MV Facebook posting goes like this:
3 days before the game; Lots of posts whipping up enthusiasm. 2 days before the game; So many optimistic posts that I consider unfriending them. 1 day before the game; More enthusiasm and eventually minute details of the final preparations. First 60 minutes; Monosyllabic posts every time someone scores. Last 30 minutes; Nothing, absolute Facebook silence. Post game; Nothing at all until the run up to the next game.
Which makes me think that win or lose, the guy in charge of keeping Facebook updated is inebriated to the point incapacity by mid-second half.

I am glad that I adopted the Brisbane Roar as I did not even know that Australia had a professional soccer league. I see my lads have a comfortable lead at the top of the table, and I think they have only dropped one match so far. Come on you Roar!

I noticed the Roar kicked Central Coast Mariners around the pitch in a 2-0 win yesterday, and it looks like we are running away with this thing. When is the season over?

Sorry Fury fans. It looks like you have the USL curse: not enough money.
North Queensland Fury CEO Rabieh Krayem has expressed his dismay at the axing of the A-League expansion club by Football Federation Australia, insisting it was the wrong decision.

The team may have died, but the North Queensland Fury shot will be in full glory at the Zoo Bar the evening before the USMNT Gold Cup game in KC this June!

This started out to be a fun thread. It looks like the A-League did not pack enough punch to keep the excitement going. I think it is time to unsticky this thread and let it die...

I'm sticking with the Mariners. They have a player named Zwaanswijk and a goalkeeper who wears the hot pink. What more could I want?

Does anyone care anymore about the Australian A League. It looks like the Roar are once again dominating the league. SuperRookie's team is struggling. COME ON YOU ROAR!

I saw that the Roar have now set an A-League record for the longest unbeaten streak. It looks like the Roar are also once again going to walk away with the title. I love my team!

Thanks KJ. I am glad to see you do not ignore my posts. Hey, where are the pics from Australia? You should post some. I would be interested to see some of the places you went to.

Hey, I think a little smack talk is in order with my Roar winning it all again this year. I look forward to winning it all again next season. Come on you Roar!

After winning this "adopt a team" challenge for the last two seasons, I was wondering if anyone wants to pick teams again. If so, I am taking the Roar!!!
