I understand that it is an overhauled, younger squad with almost no carryover from the USL2 side that they fielded for several years but I never saw anything that volatile when they played Baltimore.

Pure & simple Yanki, rank poor officiating led to the problem. Now I can understand that a new ref might have the problem, but one who has been reffing for as long as Jim should be able to handle the game.

Amazingly no card was issued either, despite him being able to show a card for violent conduct at any point before, during or after a game.

That's too bad (and this is coming from a guy who has seen some "disagreements" over the years following Puerto Rico). When things have escalated to that point, it is very hard to get the genie back in the bottle.

Just curious, how old was the youth player? Do you have any idea if the youth player had engaged the Bermudan, maybe said something first? Or did things just get so crazy that it became a "Bermuda vs the World" sort of scenario?

Not a good situation at all. Once you get a rep it takes a long time to lose it. Puerto Rico had a bad rep the first three or four seasons of USL play.

The lad is a junior at college, and the Bermudan player had travelled from their team bench when a scuffle broke out, handbags at 6 paces job, and had to be restrained by his team mates from punching the lad.

All in all a very unsavoury evening, and something that is a disgrace to see in front of the young players & families that were there.

I didn't recall Bermuda being that terrible when they played at HR. Ironbound, on the other hand... wow.

Yeah, we had trouble with Ironbound last Sunday. Their #11 was sent off at the end of the game, and decided to throw plastic folding chairs into the bushes around Hellwig.

Some sort of revenge when we won 1-0 down there, presumably with a proper ref as the Memsahib said.
