So at this point we don't have meeting space lined up for the 6th, which I just realized is tomorrow night (where did this week go?). So a couple folks have suggested moving it to the following Thursday, the 13th. Andy is checking into space at the Sweetwater. Hopefully that night will work for folks and maybe give us a little extra time to get the word out.

I think it was Bruce who collected email addresses at the first meeting - once we've finalized the meeting details, would you be willing to email the first round attendees with the info?

Sorry about the confusion around the followup meeting; there's no reason the discussion here can't continue, but I think at this point it's probably best to say the May 6 meeting is off, to be replaced by a meeting on the 13th (or some other date if that's generally unpopular).

Glad you made that clear. A post was made and just about ready to published at IMS. I'll hold off for new details.

I have been thinking about the concept of "dues" and some of the prior posts on the topic. One concern I think that would need to be addressed is that have a very lose "membership" definition could lead to some outside individuals taking over the organization. At least if you charge something for due in order to be a "member," you could keep greater control over the organization. Just a thought...

We're on for Thursday, May 13 at the Sweetwater, 7 PM. More to follow; just wanted to get this up here before the weekend finished getting completely away from me.

OK, here’s the scoop - Bruce, BQ, please cross post if you like. I’ve obtained a copy of the contact list from the first meeting and will email folks on it.

Supporters Organization Meeting: Thursday, May 13, 2010, 7 PM, at the Sweetwater Bar & Grille

By all means, encourage other interested parties to come along. As with the previous meeting, this is open to anyone who wants to take a part in organizing support for soccer in the MSP area. In particular, it would be nice to get as many as possible of the people who attended the first meeting (or who wanted to but couldn't).

Thanks to Andy for lining up the space. I am unable to make the meeting, but hopefully folks will be able to carry on with the progress we made at the last one and the efforts of the smaller working group. Based on what we’ve got at this point and the comments made in other threads, here is what I’d propose for an agenda – feel free to offer suggestions.

1. Quick round of introductions, recap of last meeting (if necessary)

2. Review of proposed bylaws (draft bylaws can be found here.)
a. Member(s) of working group to recap conversations and decision-making factors

3. Areas of further discussion:
a. Group Scope (exclusive to Stars?)
i. Basic question: Do the goals/purpose as written in the bylaws adequately convey the consensus sentiment on this topic? If not, any proposed modifications?
b. Dues
i. Should there be dues? Should that be in the bylaws?
ii. Related, from the discussion so far: How easy/difficult should it be to become a member of this organization; how concerned are we about “control”?
c. Other Concerns?

4. Action on Bylaws:
a. Reject, Adopt, or Adopt with Amendments?

5. Assuming the Bylaws are adopted in some form:
a. Selection of a Board
i. Volunteers/Nominations
ii. Voting, if necessary
b. Follow-up Business for the Board to include:
i. Selection of Officers
ii. Finalizing any formal paperwork necessary with the officers of Blue Sky LLC
iii. Getting-to-know-you meeting with NSC Staff

6. Additional Items:
a. Consignment Ticket Sales (Lightning Striker)
b. St. Louis Road Trip – Aug 1 (?)
c. Other business (?)

7. Adjourn to the bar!

I'm worried I'm not going to make it to the meeting, and you can tell me if you don't think this is the smart place to say this, but:

One point on consignment ticket sales I wanted to raise was that if we can get those tickets a week or so before the game, then I'd be willing to volunteer to take a handful to bars like the Nomad, the Local, etc. (especially during the World Cup when I'll be playing hookie from work a lot anyway) and see if I could get a couple of them sold.

I think that works best if we're getting flex tickets, but that's just a thought I had.

Let the supporter that "gets something out of it" take care of distribution, unless you get the same deal. whistle

Just sayin...

Group ticket sales are GAME SPECIFIC. Unfortunately, that's the only way they could do it. Topic for discussion Thursday.

Chime in here with comments. I've arranged for 20 tickets for Saturday, we'll see how it goes. I want to have all sales done at least 30 minutes before kickoff (until others are willing to do the sales), so invite your friends, and get them there EARLY for the party.
