Second Big Apple club could be the league's 20th

MLS commissioner Don Garber said Friday that the league has no intentions of slowing down following a 2012 expansion to Montreal, and that a second New York franchise could be in line for 2013.

Garber told the Associated Press that the league has aspirations of soon fielding a 20th franchise to follow Montreal, which was officially announced on Friday as the league’s third Canadian club and 19th franchise overall.

"Our attention is very focused on a 20th team as we speak. We'd like that team to be in New York City representing a second team in the tri-state area," Garber told the AP. "The Red Bulls are very supportive of that and believe that rivalry will help grow the popularity of the sport in the New York metropolitan area. So we're going to work hard and try to get something done perhaps as early as 2013."

Head, meet wall. Getting a stadium built in Queens might present some minor problems. I was in Manhattan in 2005 when the Nets announced they would be in a new arena in Brooklyn for the 2009-2010 season. Much laughing ensued. Their new Russian overlord managed to break ground a couple months ago. I am sure that arena will be done any day now.

Mets Interested in MLS at Citi Field

A club spokesman told The Post, "We've had good dialogue previously with commissioner Garber, and look forward to continuing that in the future."

Ummmm, yeah. This just in: No one is going to Mets games at Citi Field. The Mets may want to get that sorted before they run a franchise in a sport they know nothing about. And Citi Field was not built with soccer in mind.

Here we go back into the- It's ok to play professional soccer inside a baseball field cycle again!

Apparently we have learned nothing from the first fall of Rome (NASL).

Yes, we've learned NOTHING. Nothing at all. That's why most MLS teams play in their own stadiums, and even lower-level teams recognize the importance of an appropriate yard.

But the Mets float some nonsense and THAT'S evidence that "we" have learned nothing since 1985.

You are a piece of work.

I'm not in a court of law!
Ok, you're different that's for sure, back then you were young.

Interesting talk from Capello about maybe using a 352 with England vs the USA.
Talk about breaking the law!
The mind games begin.
