Instead of a Canon, I'd rather see a big Nessy pop it's head up from in back of the scoreboard and let off some hideous and monsterish scream. Sort of a fakey looking one like the original King Kong. The kids would love it, not to say what it would do to those sitting in beer garden. Better get more port-a-potties.

BTW, Seamonster and I think that the new scoreboard should have the score listed like this:

This. One thousand times this.

On the Facebook Nessy thing Sarah PH mentioned that any Nessy mascot should only turn up once or twice a game, and I think this'd be a great way for that to happen.

Re: Human cannons that dispense beer.

Why do you have to talk about me like that? Sometimes a man just has to go.

Here's the beginnings of what could become the most unique scoreboard in all of the US soccer specific stadiums.

Note the proportions are upon a 4' diameter clock with custom face design, which is in progress.

Clock will begin at the 12:00 position at the start of each half, and run through 45' plus stoppage time. The clock will be reset via a pilot clock that will be located in the press box.

Constructive comments appreciated. Supporters scoreboard ommittee will meet with the NSC's Campus Operations Manager on Monday, and the ball is in the NSC's court as to the budget that they plan to contribute to this project. However, the first meeting went very well, and the initial response has been positive.

I am looking for images of old tyme soccer scoreboard clocks that we can use to draw inspiration, so if you can help scour the inter webs, please forward any that you may find.

Where's the "We-They" below the score? Oh, and the giant Nessy that pop's up from the back?

Don't take this as a cynical comment, but I hope you've got the engineering figured out for that. The wind and snow loads on such a large structure will be in the thousands of pounds. That is about the same dimension as the deck I designed to go above my garage, and the vertical (wind) loads I calculated were in the thousands even though it was a horizontal surface.

Good point, AJ. Campus Ops may have already taken that into consideration, but be sure to bring up at the meeting on Monday.
