I like the Believe scarf a lot, although it would not hurt my feelings if Nessy did not make the final cut.

Remember, "2010" needs to be placed somewhere on any scarf design...

I agree. I like Nathan's designs - especially the Believe one. Previously, I had imagined something pretty basic - blue on one side, yellow on the other, with just "Minnesota" written on each side and "2010" at the ends. But I like the "Believe" idea. I'm back-and-forth on the Nessie; if we keep it I'd like to see the silhouette changed a little - it took me a minute to figure out what it was. We could swap in "2010" for the badge - it might get a bit busy to present well on a scarf? Not sure. I wasn't immediately sold on the stripes, but they're definitely growing on me.

Superrookie might hate me for this, but... what about having Nessie as the UNofficial mascot? I think it gets to be a bit much to have a giant sculpture or someone in a Nessie costume, but I really dig the idea of having the silhouette show up various places - ties into the Believe idea. Y'know, as in something you never quite see up close, but you know it's there.

I don't hate you, in fact I think it is a good idea.

To clarify, they are nordmann's designs.

I like the BELIEVE concept with hidden Nessie, crouching Stars. I might replace the shield with 2010 because I don't believe gradients translate well to yarn.

My understanding is that the NSC is working on a non-gradient shield to work for the fabric.

Also, I would like to see some more designs from our highly skilled artisans that populate the grounds. It should be noted that I really, really like Nordmann's creations, but I also think we should have a traditional vote on the product in the next week or so, don't others?

KJ, what kind of timeline do you propose to get submissions in for a few days of voting so we can have the team send it off to the powers that be?

Can I use my, uh, alternate rendering of the crest? laugh

This is what I told Rook via e-mail:

I imagine we're talking roughly 6-8 weeks of lead time, so we're
probably running right at that time now in order to have them for the opener. Andy ran the contests in the past, so he probably has more insight than I; however, taking a stab, I'd say set a submission deadline of late next week, then have a couple week days for voting. After that you'll need a few days to finalize things with the winning design, so aim for having submission-ready files on March 15.

---

Oh, and if you don't mind me adding a critique of the design above (aside from the absolutely silly monster), that text will be pretty much unreadable on a scarf. Contrast is huge when it gets reduced down to stitching.

Alright, using KJ's template as a rough guideline, and to hopefully ensure that we have the scarfs for opening day lets set the following timeline:

Submission Deadline Tuesday March 2nd at 12:01AM
Voting Period Start and EndTuesday March 2nd at 5:00pm to Tuesday March 9th at 12:01AM

We will announce where the scarf designs should be sent (or you can post on here) in a few days. Just keep an eye on this thread. In addition, we will have the voting method and voting location announced by Tuesday March 2nd at 5:00pm. My guess is that it will work the same way it has in the past (at least the two years I have been around).

This should be fun.

I'd like a lighter-weight scarf than last year. It's nice this time of year, but I'll wear it more in the summer.
I have a Juventus one that is lighter weight, and it looks good, so I know it's possible somewhere.
