SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake General Manager Garth Lagerwey today announced that former MLS player Miles Joseph has joined the 2009 MLS Cup Champions as an assistant coach.

"This opportunity is a dream come true for me," "The entire Real Salt Lake staff is comprised of former teammates or opponents from my playing days, and they have obviously taken what they learned as players to reach the pinnacle of their profession as coaches with the MLS Cup 2009 win. I'm anxious to work alongside them as we prepare to defend the title."

By hiring another ex-MLS player, Real Salt Lake maintains the distinction among Major League Soccer's 16 teams of having the only group of coaches and a general manager composed entirely of former MLS players.

SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake will begin its 2010 preseason in earnest this week, when the defending MLS Cup champs will transition from its week-long "Rookie Camp" to a pair of full-sided practice sessions before taking off this weekend for its first training camp of the preseason.

After Rookie Camp - which is mandatory for the RSL's four recent SuperDraft selections and select trialists and optional for the club's veterans - winds down on Tuesday, the team will hold its first full-sided practice sessions on Thursday (Newpark from 1:00-3:00 p.m.) and Friday (Spence-Eccles Fieldhouse from 10:00 a.m.-noon) before departing Saturday for the Casa Grande Performance Institute at the Francisco Grande in Casa Grande, Ariz., where it will call home from Feb. 13-27.

Real Salt Lake's full schedule for February 8-13, 2009, is listed below. All RSL practices are open to members of the media and the general public unless otherwise noted, with media availability for all players and coaches to immediately follow each session. Those planning on attending any session can confirm the time and location of that day's training by calling 801-918-5050.

Real Salt Lake Schedule: February 8-13, 2009 (all times MT unless noted)

Monday, February 8: "Rookie Camp" at Newpark Recreation Center in Park City (1456 Newpark Blvd.) - 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, February 9: "Rookie Camp" at Newpark - 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 10: Off Day

Thursday, February 11: Full-team training at Newpark - 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Friday, February 12: Full-team training at Univ. of Utah's Spence-Eccles Fieldhouse (650 Guardsman Way) - 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 13: Travel day to Casa Grande, Ariz. for Preseason Camp #1; training TBD

Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
Lawrence: Well, what about you now? what would you do?
Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Well, yeah.
Peter Gibbons: Nothing.
Lawrence: Nothing, huh?
Peter Gibbons: I would relax... I would sit on my ass all day... I would do nothing.
Lawrence: Well, you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do [censored].

Not only do they have a sharty name, their grammar is USL-quality too. How is it possible to have 'comprised of' (incorrect grammar) and 'composed of' (correct grammar) both in the same release? Does anyone proof these things before they send them out?

I can't believe I am doing this:

For the record, i have nothing at all against Utah. Everyone I have met from there has been great. I was just taking a poke at BS.

And now they're polling on jersey color... all the choices are a solid jersey, rather than superrookie's excellent proposal from a few pages back. Though it's not clear if that's intended as a "base color" which could have some other stuff in it too.

Wouldn't polling for your primary jersey color make more sense before you've announced your crest and colors? I mean, sure, a red shirt's nice and all, but if your crest is navy and yellow, it doesn't make much sense as your home shirt, now does it? (And, besides: navy. Done.)

Were this poll about the away shirt, then we'd be talking.

...there will be some speed bumps along the way (the red option), but there isn't anything that Nessy won't be able to overcome. That being said, I like the idea of Sunshine Yellow as it allows us to move away from the Thunder/Navy (which I am sure places me in the minority).
