I'd like to preemptively scratch "Nessy" and the Loch Ness monster from the list of nicknames and mascots.

Navy and yellow: I like.
Stars name: Pretty decent, if a touch generic (and short... going to be a little tough to do songs for).
"NSC Minnesota": I'm going to start calling it Red Bull Minnesota, because it's basically the same idea. (Ok, I'm not really.)
Logo: OMG TERRIBLE. Did they set a teenager loose on WordArt? Seriously? The Thunder never had a logo as bad as this, and their early logos were pretty awful.

When all things are said and done I am happy with the name selected. Good work. Would have liked Northstar SC, but too many issues.

They're ambiguous on the name. Is it "NSC Minnesota" or "NSC Minnesota Stars?" The web page includes "Stars" but the logo and URL do not. And in the webcast they mention the European tradition of a nickname developing organically, yet they said that the name is a combination of the top vote-getters, "NSC Minnesota" and "Northstars."

I'm going to call them the Nessy Stars.

I like the colors. We went from a nickname belonging to an old hockey team to a nickname belonging to an existing hockey team, but I like NSC Minnesota. I don't think the logo is that bad. It will evolve over time I'm sure.

I was kind of in and out of the discussion, did they mention timing for naming a head coach?

I like it because it is bold yet simple. And it looks nothing like WordArt

Colors are great, but that logo looks terrible. And the name is about as ambiguous as it gets. I'm really disappointed with NSC on this one. Instead of going with the winner or the runner up, they combined the two and made both worse.


I don't understand how this makes any sense either. Why is it not okay to use Northstar (which is not the same as North Stars) but it is okay to use Stars? Probably because the name couldn't get more generic. It evokes nothing.

I believe they mentioned that while they wanted to let the nickname develop organically, they felt they needed a nickname (Stars) to help in the marketing campaign. (If I heard that right.)

You know things for little kids like:

Future Stars day. Youth soccer players get in free or something if they wear their team's shirt.

Lil' Stars Playing at half-time.

Star ticket packages for you die-hards who (unlike me) by season tickets.

Nessy Stars has a nice ring to it AJ.

KJ doesn't like that the name isn't "Minnesota Thunder"

Personally, I think Red Bull Salzburg/Red Bull New York is approximately one billion times more offensive than NSC Minnesota. Red Bull is an impossibly rich international energy drink company and NSC is a local non-profit organization.
