An old time manual box number scoreboard and clock run by supporters sounds like something the fans could have fun with.

You have 10 weeks to have it ready... Get started.

Keep the budget inline with the fact that the scoreboard can't really score any goals for the team.

Maybe you could use the making of it to generate publicity for the new team. This is the type of story the papers love, a group of people doing something because they are supporters of a new team. Seize the moment, and also promote the team.

I think that this whole scoreboard talk is a waste of time. This team is no better than an MASL team and will be lucky to sell 20-30 tickets. Does the team really need to waste money on a scoreboard for 20 people?

The team should focus on playing in local parks against U-17s. If they want to play competitive in that environment, fine. Manny can write the score on a pad of paper. However, considering that this is a just a team of glorified amateur players, it's best not to keep score, and just go out there to have fun and consider themselves winners for trying.

I would go to one of the games at a local park this year to see what the new product looks like.

The nice thing about being a fan of an MASL team is the away games are only in St Cloud. Twice as many games to watch.

Simple
score and clock

Aren't ya gonna need a pretty big clock for everybody to see it from there? Also won't ya need some lights to make sure people can see the clock towards the end of the game?

If it was me, everything was free, and didn't have to worry about insurance or permits; a manual scoreboard dead center behind the east stands would be awesome.

If this does go forward and you need someone to do manual labor let me know I'd be willing to help out in that aspect.

Great point about lights/size. I also concur about placement on east side being best in a perfect world.

I was thinking the exact same thing. There's some great real estate there that could be used to build a scoreboard that adds to the soccer experience. Time to start a new tradition!

them there flood lights are pretty bright, i doubt it will be something that needs to be addressed right away. that is if we can get it close enough to the field.

Random idea. Modified billboard over the east stand?

IIRC there are 5-6' (analog) clocks available at Target for not unreasonable prices. I imagine that size would be fairly visible from a distance and probably runs on batteries.

Right if its close to the field it should be fine but how much do the floodlights hit the roof of the Schwans Center?

Also forgot to add, I don't have much money but would be willing to chip in financially what I can to help out with the project too.
