1-1 draw with Montreal, not a bad result, considering they have been training together for about 6 weeks already.

Heinemann had the goal in the 37 and the Battery gave up a goal in the 87th.

The Boys started off well, controlling the ball, creating some decent chances, and preventing a shot from the Railhawks.

About 30 mins in, the Railhawks started to play the match, and it looked more even at that point.

Railhawks started off the half pressing alot more than in the first and drew first blood off of a corner kick. Heinemann got sent off about ten minutes into the half. He was kicked while laying on the ground after the whistle had blown. He lashed out and got the red.

Neagle hit a nice shot from about 25 yards out to equalize the score.

Railhawks got a second goal from a free kick on the right side of the box.

Woodbine got sent off about ten minutes from the end. Slid in to send a ball out and clipped a guy. The guy sold it and woodbine got the card.

Carolina controlled the match with the Battery down to nine men. But the boys had a couple over the top chances

overall, the teams looked like they matched up well and I think 11 on 11 the Battery could have won. the match was very chippy, several yellows and two reds.

Falvey comes in tomorrow so he should feature next week friendlies. Briggs is due in "sometime next week"

Understand that Patrick Tate is no longer with the team, not sure what happened there but do seem to have some depth in defense (Woodbine, zaher, bermudez, marples, wilson, falvey)

We need to improve on defending dead ball situations. Railhawk goals came from corner and free kick. Also need to work on discipline. Lots or yellows and reds and with a small squad that could hurt later in the season.

Should be a good season for the boys.

Thank goodness for your reports, as the best the Battery web site could offer is that a "trialist" scored. Who ever writes that should take a few minutes and watch the game. If it was not for Mikey I would not even know who was playing. Thanks for keeping us up to date. I appreciate it.

i had to to do some digging as to who Lamar was to be fair though. he had only shown up the day before the match and no one knew his last name. figured there couldnt be too many Lamars playing soccer, looked at the MLS waiver list, saw a lamar looked at his bio photo and bobs your uncle.

Anyhow I like doing it, and I have a bit more time on my hands now so it works out nicely for me.

Next match is at Clemson though, Im probably not going to have a report for that although a couple people that live up that way might be able to check it out and give me a recap, fingers crossed.

4-1 to the Battery. Not sure who the goal scores were or who played but I imagine Saturdays match against CofC, as it is the last friendly, will be a good indication as to who our starting 11 will be on the 17th.

Rudolph Mayard opened the scoring early in the first half and Tom Heinemann doubled the lead before Clemson pulled a goal back before half time. Mayard restored Charleston’s two goal advantage with a strike from thirty yards out at the start of the second half and Levi Coleman completed the scoring with a neat finish late in the game.

Battery website says Mayard scored two, Heinemann with one and Coleman with one.
