Yes we would have the tremoundously successful soccer leagues that Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India have. Sorry, but the argument lacks logic. I'll take the USA model every time - "Don't Tread on Me". We'll see if come June 12th we can make another stand.

We'd have been better off remaining British subjects? Okay, I gotta read this senior thesis. Actually it's a book = There's no World Wars, no Depression, no Holocaust, no Cold War & damn little French... & EPL Franchises all over the British Continental United States.

Because if not, I am a bit insulted. My wife's oldest uncle would not have been conscripted into Mussolini's army if only the United States was a British colony? And here is a tip: No good can come from bringing the Holocaust into your tenuous theory. History is not linear and orderly. No one can possibly know where the world would be today if major events had played out differently, but I'll guess and say it would not be utopia.

You have to get back into ROMAN History before the Italian Army, or Navy, or Air Force, etc... actually accomplished anything.

And shouldn't we be pleased that Mussolini's army didn't "actually accomplish anything"? And yes, for anyone bored senseless by this diversion, I would move it to a different thread if I knew how.

And yes, for anyone bored senseless by this diversion, I would move it to a different thread if I knew how. Needless to say the quality of PIZZA in North America would be FAR better had the Roman Empire continued their conquest of the World - I could'nt see Little Ceasars going over very well... As far as the Thread goes we were exploring different & future Soccer scenarios as they related to past milestones in History & yeah we kinda strayed~!

Because the history of man shows us that he's not warlike. You've really got something wrong upstairs, don't you?

Oh great. please no more politics.
The windup history takes and responses are one thing. But now it the thread has been given a political edge.
Probably time to bail on this one...
