Hi Gang,

My sincere apologies for doing things this suddenly.

Issues we have been seeing have forced me to upgrade to a much newer, actively supported version after ~10 years on this original installation. The choice was made to insure compatibility so that the vast majority of previous postings will be converted to the new board.

We had been running cgi script based UBB.classic 6.7.0. We are now running a PHP/MySQL based UBB.threads currently on version 7.5.3, and under very active development. We will see many new and improved features. You can find out more about this new version by visiting www.ubbcentral.com.

Also, since this a major change, any previous external links to the boards will no longer work as those pages reside in a different area now, so they will need to be refreshed.

There will be many comments, and I want to hear them all. I will be tweaking things as we go along the next few days/weeks, but one thing I would be interested in hearing is if folks were happy with the previous color scheme, or this is a nice change .

For those looking for a different color option, scroll to the bottom of the screen, and on the left you will see a drop-down selection to the right of the "Mark all read" link. Click that and you can select from several color scheme skins that I have loaded and see which you like. That is associated to your login if you set yourself up to login each time you visit, so you won't have to set that each time you return to the boards.

My only problem so far is that I had the old version keeping me logged in - the new site didn't know me, so I had to go dig up my password. Otherwise, looks good so far!

Yeah, Sorry about that. A whole new set of cookies now controls that, but once you get seutp the 1st time, you should be good to go.

I like the new look, Dan! I had the same problem as fuggle, though.

There was a little while, shortly after I posted my previous comment, when things were awfully slow. Seems to be OK at the moment, though.

Any plans to make it mobile friendly?
The old site, I guess due to the simplicity of it, loaded and took posts from the Blackberry efficiently.
New site takes more real estate, loads slowly.....

When you made the switch, I noticed my old link didn't work and it didn't appear to redirect me to the new URL. I just typed in the basic www.usldiscussions.com and that got me to the new URL. (from my memory, the new URL was close to the old one but a few characters different). In any event, I ran into somebody last night who asked what happened to the forums. I told them about the new software and that I thought the URL had changed slightly and their old link probably wasn't good anymore & suggested just typing in usldiscussions.com. So.....was there a redirect from the old URL? Some computer challenged people might be lost in space and I have noticed a drastic drop in participation on the Battery forum.

Darn, I thought that was covered. I missed that. I had failed to try a specific link to a thread in the old boards. All better now.
